You might not pay much attention to the brands sitting in your underwear drawer. In fact, your bras and panties are likely a medley of fast-fashion labels, a few nice sets you've received as gifts, and a bunch of cheap, itchy pieces you don't actually wear. And while we're used to looking to Journelle for the latest and greatest in the lingerie space, today it's kicking off the second round of a new approach to bringing fresh talent to the category — and to your collection. The site is announcing its second class of its Emerging Designers program, which introduces and nurtures up-and-coming names new to the industry.
Each designer selected for the program, which introduces their pieces to Journelle's cult following, has shown a fresh approach and unique POV on lingerie, exemplary skill, and a true passion for the craft. They've been hand-picked by the company's buying and marketing teams, and if all goes well with these designers, there's a chance they'll stick around Journelle for seasons to come. But for now, we can all get a taste of these up-and-coming labels, and we're pretty psyched about it. Click on to get to know the "Class of 2016," and treat yourself (or your S.O.) to a no-reason pick-me-up.

Minimalists (and lovers of the bodysuit trend) should keep a close eye on this Mexico City-based label, which is tackling all of today's most popular trends in a modern, effortless way. "Broadly, we were drawn to each designer selected because they were contributing something unique to the category," explained Allison Beale, Journelle's market director. "Marika Vera added a wearable femininity to modern, somewhat edgy silhouettes and accessories."

Busty girls, rejoice! "I'm really excited about having Adina Reay in this class," Beale says. "Her bras are designed specifically for women with larger breasts, and they are stunning. This is an area that can be tricky to do well in a technical way while maintaining the beauty required of luxury lingerie." Engineered with "invisible architecture" in each of its pieces, Reay's line is one that doesn't compromise on support or aesthetics.

It's no secret that lingerie trends are hitting the streets — from PJs to lacy slip dresses, the line between sleepwear and streetwear continues to blur. As Beale puts it, "Violet & Wren's materials and prints are incredibly luxe, and they bring an element of glamour and street style to the loungewear market. I love that their collection is designed with the mindset of being both for in and out of the bedroom."

"One trend we're seeing a lot of lately is 'boudoir' — or 'French for naughty,' as we call it — and you see that in Rachel Marus's longline with a bit of lift," says Beale. Aside from fulfilling all your Parisienne dreams, Marus's stunning, well-fitted pieces are crafted from materials from Calais and Japan (among others), and produced in New York's Garment District.
