For some, fall is linked to plaid scarves, oversized sweaters, and over-the-knee boots. For others, mulled cider, spiked cocoa, and a certain pumpkin beverage. But for us, it's all about busting out the jewel tones; metallics; and deep, dark, sooty shades.
Sure, we've got our go-to burgundy lipsticks from years past, but our shadow game always needs a revamp. That's when we look to the red carpet and the catwalk. This year, both are dominated by bold yellow gold, dusty pink, and rich wine. They're pretty unexpected colors on the eyes, but that's the fun of a new look. And we promise, you can pull all of them off.
Ahead, find our favorite inspiration looks from celebrities and the products you need to recreate them at home.

Milennial Pink
Millennial pink, otherwise known as Tumblr pink, has become a bit of an internet sensation this year. We've spotted the muted, dusty shade on the pages of our favorite magazines, on clothing racks, and in Sephora. Our favorite way to sport the cotton-candy hue? On our lids, of course.

Black Out
Versace, Elie Saab, Chloé, Roberto Cavalli — these are just a few of the shows this season that sent models down the runway wearing seriously sooty eyes. (The spring 2017 runways were full of 'em, too.) Not only is the look edgy and cool, it's so easy to achieve — all you need is a pigmented black shadow or thick kohl pencil.

Smell The Roses
Deeper than millennial pink, this bright rose hue is yet another way to hop aboard the pink train. We love wrapping the shade around our eyes to create a non-traditional smoky look.

Midas Touch
Gold has been around forever, but this year, it really blew up. With the launch of Pat McGrath's immensely popular gold eyeshadows, the shade has shimmied its way back into the hearts of just about every editor, designer, makeup artist, and blogger. Wear a heavy swatch of a single shade across your lids, mix things up by dabbing a touch in the corners of your eyes to instantly brighten or stack on the sequins and glitter.

High Shine
Sure, eye gloss may not technically be an eyeshadow, but we like wearing it as such. There are a host of ways to do lid lacquer: Smudged into sultry black liner, topped with iridescent shimmer, or simply swiped across the lids alone.
