Your Favorite Drugstore Products Are Getting Major Upgrades

When you find a product you love, it's like knowing you've met The One within the first 10 minutes of the first date: You become instantly attached, and are suddenly more than happy to kick the rest of your less-exciting options to the curb. It's even better, of course, when said item is readily available just around the corner and doesn't cost a fortune — which is why drugstore beauty buys are among our favorite finds.

But, just like with relationships, things can change in an instant. Brands have been known to switch up the packaging, reformulate ingredients, or just pull a product from your life forever. But if the thought of change scares you, let us assure you: Basic improvements are key to a happily ever after.

Ahead, we've rounded some of the latest and greatest upgrades to cult-classic products you can find — or will be able to find so soon — in the aisles of your local drugstore. From Lip Smacker's insanely cute packaging update to Garnier Fructis' healthier approach to shampoo, we're willing to wager that you'll want to ditch The One for more of a Big Love situation.

Same formula, same scents, but in 2017, Caress' body washes will be housed in more sustainable packaging. The new bottles, shown here, use 10% less plastic — a change that's projected to save 175 metric tons of the stuff in 2017 alone.

Caress Evenly Gorgeous Body Wash, $3.49, new packaging available January 2017.

The brand's OG Hydro Boost Gel Cream became an instant drugstore favorite for its oil-free, lightweight texture and hyaluronic acid-spiked formula. Now, you can snag the same benefits in different ways, because the line is extending with a cleanser (shown here) and serum.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel, $8.99, available at Neutrogena.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Serum, $17.99, available at Neutrogena.

Garnier is relaunching its entire Fructis line of shampoos and conditioners — in the healthiest way possible. Each formula is swapping out parabens for good-for-you ingredients, like vitamins B3 and B6, plus fruit and plant extracts that are meant to strengthen hair.

Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Shampoo, $6.99, available in January 2017.

Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Shampoo, $6.99, available in January 2017.

Garnier Fructis Color Shield Shampoo, $6.99, available in January 2017.

The brand has infused protein, lactic acid, and vitamin-packed yogurt into its classic Daily Moisturizing Body Wash. The two new scents — apricot and vanilla — are still loaded with the soothing oatmeal we know and love, only now you'll get the benefit of even more hydration.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Yogurt Body Wash in Apricot & Honey, $8.79, available at Walgreens.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Yogurt Body Wash in Vanilla & Oat, $8.79, available at Walgreens.

Gone are the days of swiping on Lip Smacker's soda-flavored balms from basic tubes; now, the spheres are hidden in cup-shaped, ice-filled drinks. Can you say collector's item?

Lip Smacker Coca-Cola Cup Lip Balm, $3.95, available at Lip Smacker.

Lip Smacker Sprite Cup Lip Balm, $3.95, available at Lip Smacker.

Dove has finally figured out a way to nix dreaded white marks and yellow stains, while keeping the feel and smell of its classic deodorant dry spray intact. (We even put it to the test.)

Dove Invisible Dry Spray Antiperspirant, $5.49, available in January 2017.

People after the no makeup-makeup look have relied on this foundation for years, thanks to its light-as-air texture. Now, the cult drugstore brand has added four new shades — a warm tan, beige, honey, and almond — to its lineup of 12, upping your odds of finding the perfect match.

Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation, $8.99, available at Target.

Nivea's classic body wash has been kicked up a notch, because this addition is infused with hydrating cocoa butter — both in formula and scent.

Nivea Cocoa Butter Body Wash, $5.99, available in January 2017.

It's no secret: The internet has a thing for blackhead removal, and one of the most common ways to do so is with pore strips from Bioré. And now, you can get 'em in charcoal form, which acts like a magnet for dirt and oil — doubling the strips' pore-purging power.

Bioré Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips, $7.49, available at Walgreens.

Fans of Carmex will be delighted to know that its newest edition is loaded with skin-care benefits. The hero? Colloidal oatmeal, a master skin-soother.

Carmex Comfort Care Lip Balm, $1.99, available at CVS.
