Update: Death Toll In Munich Rises To 10, Lone Attacker Among The Dead

$

Update: Police found that the attacker, who shot himself, was an 18-year-old German-Iranian. He had lived in Munich for two years, CNN reports. The police have thus far refused to release his identity.

The shooter's motives are unclear, and he was not a terror suspect, according to police.

21 were hurt Friday in addition to nine dead. 16 remain hospitalized, police say. Those casualties include "many children," CNN says.

Apparently an angry exchange led to gunfire.

"The exchange, recorded on two different camera phones, captured an intense conversation that ends in gunfire," CNN writes. "The man who appears to be a shooter said insulting things about Turks, did not espouse jihadist ideology and spoke with a German accent."

Update: 7:57 p.m. EDT: Police have raised the death toll to 10, which includes the body of the likely attacker, who apparently acted alone and appears to have killed himself, according to The Associated Press.

Update: 4:50 p.m. EDT: The death toll in the attack on a Munich shopping center has risen to nine, Munich police told The Associated Press. In a press conference, police spokesman Peter Beck said that several more were wounded, but could not confirm that number.

It is unknown if any of the attackers are among the dead.

Police called the shooting “suspected terrorism,” citing the nature of the attack. Members of Germany’s anti-terror force are en route to the site of the shooting. Authorities are still searching for up to three attackers, who they believe to be armed with rifles.

Update: 3:50 p.m. EDT: A police spokesperson confirmed that six people had been killed, with several more wounded in the attack on the Olympia shopping center, The Associated Press reported.

Police also said in a press conference that, though they had conflicting information, they were looking for up to three perpetrators who were believed to still be in Munich. Police are continuing to warn residents to stay indoors and away from public places.

In a press conference, President Obama said that “hearts [went] out” to those who may have been hurt in the attack, and said that America would pledge all the support that Germany may need in the aftermath, according to ABC News.

Update: 2:30 p.m. EDT: A police spokeswoman confirmed multiple deaths in the shooting, Reuters reports. Police told the news organization that they suspected terrorism in the attack.

Munich police are still looking for one or more suspects in the shooting at the Olympia shopping center, and are warning residents to stay out of public places. The main train station in Munich has been evacuated as authorities continue the search.

This story was originally published on July 22, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. EDT.

Shots have been fired at a shopping mall in Munich, the BBC reported on Friday afternoon.

At least one person is reported to have been killed in the shooting at the Olympia Einkaufszentrum shopping center, with an unknown number of others injured. The attack began shortly before 6 p.m. local time, at a McDonald's in the shopping center.

"We believe we are dealing with a shooting rampage," a police spokesperson told Reuters.

German police told the BBC that they believed they were dealing with multiple attackers. A security operation is underway, and the shopping center has been sealed off. Police in bulletproof jackets were seen closing off the area, and people inside the center are reportedly unable to leave.

On Twitter, police asked citizens to avoid the area. Public transportation has been shut down following the shooting.

The Associated Press reported that German police expect multiple deaths in the shooting.

This is a breaking news story. More information will be added as it becomes available.

Ariana Grande Shows Off Her New Bangs

After years of that same ponytail, Ariana Grande has made a major hair change.

Grande teased a change to her look on Instagram, but she's not looking to give too much away. Instead, she was playing coy about the cut, posting a very dark selfie that had her winking at the camera.

But even in the darkness, it was clear to see that Grande got herself some very serious bangs — a fringe that would make Brigitte Bardot proud.

A photo posted by Ariana Grande (@arianagrande) on

Even though Grande's first look at her new hair was quite mysterious, she didn't keep fans waiting too long before letting them see another shot of her new look. Well, sort of.

This photo, which her covering most of her face with her phone, didn't give too much away, either. She still had that pony, but just like her phone, her hair was also covering her face.

🚺

A photo posted by Ariana Grande (@arianagrande) on

Grande's change, while minor, is major for the star, who has been very open about her hair damage after years of dyeing it red for her role on Nickelodeon's Victorious and Sam & Cat. Grande even tweeted in 2014 after she was criticized for her signature look: "I'll change up my style when I'm ready to, enjoying the last of my retro phase."

Grande is clearly feeling comfortable enough to start letting her hair down — at least some of it.

4 Things You Need To Know About Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton's Pick For VP

$
0
0

With the announcement of Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine as Hillary Clinton’s vice-presidential running mate, all the top the players are set and the 2016 election is ready to roll.

By this point in the election, we’re completely familiar with presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Last week, the nation was introduced to Trump’s running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence. Yesterday, we got to meet Tim Kaine, who will partner with Clinton.

In the rally introducing him to the campaign in Miami on Saturday, Clinton touted Kaine as the polar opposite of their Republican rivals. "I have to say that Senator Tim Kaine is everything Donald Trump and Mike Pence are not. He is qualified to step into this job and lead on day one and he is a progressive who likes to get things done," she said.

But who is Tim Kaine? Here are four important things to know about our potential future vice president.

He’s an experienced politician who’s never lost an election.

Kaine has worked at every level of government, starting as a city council member back in 1994 and moving up the ranks to be elected mayor of Richmond, the state capital of Virginia, in 1998. He then moved on to become lieutenant governor of Virginia and took on the role of governor in 2006. He held that office until 2010 and ran for the U.S. Senate in 2012. He’s served as the junior senator from Virginia for the past three and a half years.

Kaine was considered as a running mate for Barack Obama back in 2008 before ultimately being passed over in favor of Joe Biden.

He’s a moderate liberal who supports key Democratic Party issues.

Kaine has supported many issues championed by the Clinton, including reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, gun safety, and immigration reform. Kaine made headlines back in 2013, when he made the first-ever speech on the Senate floor to be delivered entirely in Spanish, which he’s fluent in. He explained that his speech on immigration reform was delivered in Spanish because it was the language "spoken by more than 40 million Americans with a huge investment in the result of this debate,” NPR reported.

Kaine also has a history of supporting reproductive rights, despite his personal beliefs. A Catholic, Kaine has said that while he is personally against abortion, he believes that women should be able to make decisions about their reproductions by themselves.

"I'm a strong supporter of Roe v. Wade and women being able to make these decisions,” he said in an interview with CNN. He also has a 100% rating with Planned Parenthood for his votes involving women’s health care.

His national security and foreign policy expertise are impressive.

As a senator, Kaine sits on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Senate Armed Forces Committee. One of Kaine’s three children is an active-duty Marine, giving him a personal investment and making him one of the few members of Congress with a child serving, according to NPR.

In a July 18 interview with Charlie Rose, Clinton said that the most important thing to her when it came to a running mate was picking the most prepared candidate she could. With Kaine’s history, he’s certainly got the qualifications.

He embraces his “boringness.”

As rumors increased that Kaine was going to be Clinton’s pick, many seemed disappointed that Kaine wasn’t a firebrand, à la Elizabeth Warren, or a rising star in the party, like Julian Castro. Kaine, however, seems to think his white-bread reputation is funny.

In response to a question about his “lack [of] an exploding volcano of charisma,” on Meet the Press in late June, Kaine literally laughed it off. “I mean, they’re true,” he said of the criticisms. “I am boring. But boring is the fastest-growing demographic in this country.”

He does have one interesting hobby you should know about, however. He plays the harmonica (poorly, by his own account). “My wife is the most honest,” he told The Washington Post of his quality. “She says, ‘Hey, you ought to play anytime they ask you, because as soon as you’re not in elected office, they’re not going to ask you anymore.’”

Like most 5-year-olds, I hated going to the doctor. Poking, prodding, shots, freezing-cold stethoscopes? Yeah, I'll pass. The only thing that made it semi-worthwhile was getting to choose from a collection of stamps for a temporary wrist tattoo at the end of my visit.

Fast-forward 17 years. Stamps still excite me. The only difference? Now, I decorate my face and nails with them. I've been using Milk Makeup's Tattoo Stamp and Caption's Nail Art Screens for a month now — and I'm hooked. If you're into crafty beauty experiments, you will be, too.

Milk's Tattoo Stamp, which contains the same formula as the brand's long-lasting Eye Marker, makes it really easy to fashion a beauty mark anywhere. I personally like stamping it above my upper lip à la Marilyn Monroe, but as you can see on the model above, it looks amazing right under your eye. It's the simplest way to create an edgy vibe with the least amount of effort. I like to wear it with a bit of mascara and a swipe of lipstick.

If you want the easiest nail art of your life, call on Caption's Art Screens. Before you start stamping, make sure you apply a coat of polish. Let it dry, then reach for the nail art screen and stamp. Take another shade of polish and use it to paint a coat over your desired pattern on the screen. Then, using the card that comes in the package, scrape the layer of polish off the screen to reveal the pattern underneath. Pick up your stamp and push it into the pattern. Then, stamp it over your nail in a rolling motion. Repeat on every nail — or just a few — and finish with a layer of topcoat to seal your work.

Sure, beauty stamps aren't an essential part of my beauty routine, but they sure as hell make it a lot more fun. Have you tried any? Tell us in the comments, below.

Milk Makeup Tattoo Stamp, $12, available at Milk Makeup; Caption Art Screens, $29.95, available at Dermstore.

What Happened When I Added Weed Into My Beauty Routine

$

Weed, ganja, pot, cannabis, Mary Jane — call it what you want. Marijuana has had a somewhat controversial history in the United States. But recently, national perception of the drug has shifted as more and more states are legalizing it — so far, 24 for medical purposes; four for recreational. What was once associated with Woodstock and Reagan's War on Drugs is now pretty damn socially acceptable.

In the last few years, there have been a number of triumphs in the weed community, like the creation of pro-pot spas in states like Colorado and Illinois, weed-infused lube, and the opening of New York City's first medical-marijuana dispensary this year. Given the plant's popularity, it's no surprise that it's making its way into skin care. I figured, as a beauty editor, it'd be almost irresponsible if I didn't test the latest thing, right?

First things first, is cannabis-infused skin care legal everywhere? Well, that depends. Both of the brands I tried, Apothecanna and CBD For Life, are sold legally in all states in the U.S., but according to Mollie Twining, founding partner and president of sales for CBD For Life, "The legality is dependent upon the source and extraction of CBD." CBD is derived from the stalks and stems of hemp (like that found in Apothecanna and CBD For Life's products) and is legal as long as the THC level is under 0.3%, she adds.

As I dipped my fingers into Apothecanna's Everyday Face and Body Oil, I couldn't help but giggle — despite the fact that the moisturizer is completely legal in the States, something about using it felt naughty, like I was stealing a (pot) cookie from the metaphorical cookie jar. I rubbed the slick oil onto my face and it felt like, well, any other facial oil I'd tried. The scent, however, set it apart: citrusy and crisp, with some warm woodiness in there, too. But what about the weed? I didn't think I'd get high, but I thought maybe something would happen.

Both Apothecanna and CBD For Life employ the power of cannabidiol (CBD), one of the two compounds responsible for most of marijuana's effects; the other being tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Unlike THC, CBD doesn't produce any psychoactive effects. In other words: no high. The compound is also known for its pain-reliving and anti-inflammatory properties, says Julie Winters, chief operating officer of CBD For Life, making it an effective skin-soother.

"[It can also have] an indirect benefit on 'inflam-aging,' or aging caused by chronic skin inflammation," says Ni'Kita Wilson, cosmetic chemist and founder of Skinects. Hemp-seed oil, she says, is very moisturizing and can improve the skin's barrier, reduce dryness and skin sensitivity, and help skin to appear plumper and smoother. The compound is also great for soothing bug bites, muscle aches, and menstrual cramps, adds James Kennedy, founder of Apothecanna.

[Cannabidiol] can have an indirect benefit on 'inflam-aging,' or aging caused by chronic skin inflammation.

After using these products for a month, I've found they give the same results as the other, non-cannabis skin care I keep in my medicine cabinet. Apothecanna's face oil was great. It was extremely moisturizing, didn't break me out, and plumped my skin overnight.

I found CBD For Life's Facial and Body Cleanser to be a great body wash for year-round use, because it effectively cleanses without stripping the skin of its natural oils. Often, post-shower, I didn't feel the need to moisturize my body.

But it was CBD For Life's Pure CBD Extract Pain Relief Spray that I was most curious about initially. I gave it to my boyfriend, who constantly complains of muscle fatigue and back pain, to test, with the instructions to use it for a few weeks in lieu of his beloved Tiger Balm and Dr. Teal's Pre & Post Workout Pain Relief Cream.

This is what he had to say: "It doesn't have that satisfying icy-hot feeling, but it does seem to reduce general muscle tension. You really have to douse your body in it — two to three spritzes minimum on each area. It's not any different than the pain-relieving topicals available at the drugstore, but it did make me feel relaxed."

I tried it on my body post-workout and on my abs when I was on my period (What the hell, right?), and fell into a chill state of relaxation. Whether the CBD or the menthol is responsible is up for debate.

"If the source of the pain is very localized in the skin, rubbing on a concentrated solution of cannabis might help reduce the pain,” says a slightly skeptical Gary Wenk, PhD, professor of psychology, neuroscience, and medical genetics. However, Ethan Russo, MD, board-certified neurologist and past president of the International Cannabinoid Research Society, warns that "there's a tremendous placebo effect with cannabis-based medicines, especially anything pertaining to topicals and massage."

Basically, nothing's as potent as a good ol' toke of herb. Or so we hear.

Makeup entrepreneurs Kat Von D and Jeffree Star have been embroiled in a beef for the past few days. So, it's no surprise that Von D nixing a shade named after her former BFF from her successful lipstick collection.

For those who are out of the loop, KVD and Star have been exchanging social media barbs since July 19. It began with a 14-minute video posted by Von D. In it, she aired Star out for "promoting drug use, racism, and bullying." She said she'd no longer do business with him, which prompted Star to respond.

Now, the 34-year-old tattoo artist is nixing the Jeffree shade and adding 14 other shades to her popular Everlasting Liquid Lipstick line. Crucifix, one of the newest hues, is a playful brown color that will definitely be an autumn staple. The other shades will also be nude and brown tones, which is a departure from the bold shades she's known for.

While losing a friend is never fun, at least it's not impacting her creativity.

Update: This Major Pageant FINALLY Ditched The Swimsuit Competition

$
0
0

Update: The infamous bikini’s replacement has been revealed! USA Today reported on Friday that during the July 30 broadcast, Miss Teen USA contestants will be wearing custom-made sports bras and leggings from the brand Tapout, made in collaboration with designer Goldsheep. There will be eight regional variations for the main competition and finalists will get custom looks featuring their home states. The network tweeted out a sampling of the new looks.

This article was originally published on June 29.

It's about time for beauty pageants to retire the antiquated (and sexist) swimsuit competition portion, and Miss Teen USA is leading the charge by doing away with it. In lieu of donning bikinis, the contestants will instead compete in "athletic wear," according to USA Today.

The switch, which will take place at the annual pageant on July 30, aims to more aptly showcase the 15- to 19-year-old contestants' athleticism. (That was supposedly the swimsuit component's intended purpose, believe it or not.)

Given the ubiquity of all things athleisure over the past few years, it's certainly a zeitgeist-y swap. It'll also, hopefully, allow for more covered-up outfits, should contestants desire. But regardless of what sorts of Lycra-enhanced, sweat-ready outfits the pageant's 51 entrants (one per state, plus Washington, D.C.) do end up choosing, it's a progressive upgrade to the typical parade of bikinis and stilettos.

"This new direction for Miss Teen USA is a great way to celebrate the active lives that so many young women lead and set a strong example for our peers," Katherine Haik, last year's Miss Teen USA, told USA Today about the pageant's new category.

The pageant circuit has gotten slightly more progressive, as USA Today points out, noting that Miss America's first-ever openly gay contestant competed last week, and the fact that 2016's Miss USA is an Army officer.

Earlier this month, Miss USA's 2016 onstage host, Julianne Hough, and its backstage host, Ashley Graham, weighed in on the controversial swimsuit portion of pageantry. Miss USA, which is owned by Miss Universe, the same parent organization as Miss Teen USA, will indeed have a swimwear component per usual, but Hough hinted at possible changes in the next few years.

It's great that the event that involves, and perhaps targets, a younger, more impressionable teen demographic is making progress first. Let's hope the rest of the pageants follow suit sooner rather than later.

Zendaya Shows Off Her New Shoe Line

Now, you can walk in Zendaya's shoes — quite literally.

How? Zendaya just announced her own shoe line, Daya, a collaboration between the star and her longtime stylist, Law Roach (who just got a gig as one of the new judges on America's Next Top Model).

Zendaya gave Glamour a sneak peek of the shoe line, which features heels, flats, and sandals. No surprise, these shoes are adorable. Like we would expect anything less from the fashionable star.

But even better is the fact that they're also affordable. Zendaya's line runs from $70 to $110 and is available at Nordstrom. No need to break the bank to make your feet look good.

Zendaya told Glamour that all the women in her life were the inspiration behind the line. "I have big sisters, my mom, my older niece who's in college," she said, "and my little nieces who are soon going to start wearing heels and want to go to school dances."

Not to mention, herself, explaining that she was once "that girl with working parents who couldn't afford Louboutins and wanted a great shoe to wear to my eighth-grade dance."

Zendaya says low-priced shoes of high quality just aren't really a thing, adding that most of the time, cheap shoes are just that: cheap. She'd like to change that. "There's a market for really 'luxury' looking and feeling shoes at a good price point," Zendaya said.

We couldn't agree more.

Check out the photos of Daya by Zendaya, or, as we like to call them, photos of your new shoe obsessions.

Atmore III Pointy Toe Pump

$89.95

Zendaya told Glamour you can't go wrong with a pointy pump — her shoe of choice.

"It works for everyone and with everything. It's magical!" she said. "When I was creating the line with Law, we said we had to make our own version in every color and pattern. And that's what we did!"

This one comes in silver and pewter patent.

Photo: Courtesy of Nordstrom.

Adrian Pointy Toe Flat

$69.95

Flats don't have to be boring, as Zendaya proves with this blush suede shoe that will wow with its thin crossover straps and side cutouts.

Even flat-hater Zendaya was surprised by how much she liked this look, telling Glamour, " I tried to think about how I create a low heel or flat that I would wear and think is flattering. It was definitely a challenge, but hey, we made some cute ballet flats, and I never thought that was possible!"

Like Justin Bieber said, "Never say never."

Photo: Courtesy of Nordstrom.

Aaron Pointy Toe Pump

$89.95

Zendaya believes this pointy-toe pump with dainty curves is the "go-to style for stepping out on the town or onto the dance floor."

Alfie Lace-Up Bootie

$99.95

This suede bootie with geometric cutouts is as rock-and-roll as they come, with a block heel that is perfect for stomping down the patriarchy.

Aime Strappy Sandal

$99.95

This strappy sandal definitely isn't for the beach, but it's perfect for when you want to feel as hot as the weather outside.

Shown here in bronze patent, the shoe also comes in black and pewter.

Photo: Courtesy of Nordstrom.

Atmore Pump

$79.95

"I don't wear flats that often," Zendaya told Glamour. " I like super tall 6-inch heels or sneakers, there's no in-between for me."

But since Zendaya knows some women want a shoe somewhere in-between, she's designed these 4-inch metallic snake-embossed heels. They'll make you feel tall, but not too tall.

Want something a little more neutral? This pump also comes in silver and black.

Ansley Fringe Pointy Toe Pump

$89.95

These pumps are business in the front, party in the back with that fringe detail.

Photo: Courtesy of Nordstrom.

Angus Lace Open Toe Bootie

$109.95

Diamond cutouts and lace give a fierceness to this romantic look that will have you hitting new heights in an over 4-inch heel.

According to Zendaya though, you can never be too tall. "I come from a line of tall, fabulous women — my mom is 6-foot-4," she said. "The thing is: people are going to comment on you being tall whether you like it or not. So, you might as well just be extra-tall and be fabulous while being tall. "

Photo: Courtesy of Nordstrom.

Anderson Ghillie Lace-Up Mesh Sandal

$79.95

This sky-high stiletto will help you look like the Amazon woman you know you are in your heart — even if you're only 5-feet tall — thanks to its leg-lengthening design. Zendaya's got you.

Photo: Courtesy of Nordstrom.

Albert Strappy Cutout Bootie

$109.95

Love the Aimee Strappy Sandal, but wish it came in a bootie? Don't worry, Zendaya figured you would. That's why she created this chunky wrapped heel, perfect for a night out dancing — no matter the season.

Photo: Courtesy of Nordstrom.

Annabelle Pointy Toe Pump

$79.95

The combination of suede and lace balances out this dainty 4-inch stiletto to make it something a little, dare we say, sexy.

Zendaya certainly would. She told Glamour that many shoe lines "cover too much toe cleavage or do something to make it not sexy."

Not Zendaya though: "This is my own, original version, designed to be as high-end as possible."

Adele accidentally kissed a fan and he loved it. One of the vocal superstar's biggest fans attended her Vancouver, Canada, show on July 21 and he definitely got more than he paid for.

The 21-year-old man, identified on Twitter as Wizzy! posted a photo of his ticket with the caption "Going to sing dance turn up all 200,000 Naira of this ticket."

The fan, who happens to be Nigerian, also tweeted that seeing Adele would be emotional for him, seeing as he's part of her hive, or whatever it is she calls her devoted fanbase.

Adele pulled the fan, who had floor seats, onstage. She went to hug him, but after she discovered that he traveled from Nigeria for the show, they ended up locking lips for a brief smooch.

"Oh my god, I haven't been kissed by another man in like six years!” Adele said afterward. "He just snogged me!" A video, posted by another Twitter user, captured the funny moment and Adele's warmhearted response.

"Thanks for the kiss!" she said, before the fan left the stage. Now that's devotion.

What's it like to be Wonder Woman? That's the story that the makers of DC's first female-lead superhero movie try to tell in just over two minutes with the film's first trailer. We see her telling her origin story to Steve Trevor (Chris Pine), wearing a slinky ballgown with a sword as embellishment, and generally fighting all of the bad guys WWII can toss her way.

When Trevor crash-lands on the island where she lives, it is her first time seeing a man. The teaser gets into how her fellow Amazons ride or die, er...fight to the death.

The first official trailer for the film debuted on Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con and follows Gal Gadot's debut as Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman.

Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins and lands in theaters on June 2, 2017.

Warby Parker Offers Limited-Edition Sunglasses On Snapchat

There's a new place you can go to buy Warby Parker sunglasses: Snapchat.

As Teen Vogue reported , the eyewear brand tried something new when it sold a pair of limited-edition sunglasses through its Snapchat account.

Warby Parker teased the sale on Instagram last week, telling followers to head on over to Snapchat if they wanted to check out "something fun (and super limited-edition)."

And boy, did people listen. The brand offered a code for the $95 Haskel mirrored shades in crystal to anyone who popped over to Snapchat — and the frames quickly sold out.

According to Tech Crunch, though, Warby Parker's Snapchat sale isn't only good for the brand, it's good for other retailers, who may now see Snapchat as an untapped resource.

Warby Parker cofounder and co-CEO Neil Blumenthal told Tech Crunch in an email that "Snapchat’s Lenses, Geofilters, and Stickers separate it from other social networks by making communication more creative, fun, and casual."

These tools, in Blumenthal's opinion, "translate to commerce and align with our philosophy that shopping should be fun." Not to mention, Snapchat is a good place to show off "a highly social accessory, like glasses, which everyone immediately sees on your face and invites conversation."

He added, "Offering this limited-edition pair of glasses to our Snapchat followers seems like a no-brainer as we strive to make buying glasses as enjoyable and convenient as possible."

So basically, expect to see Warby Parker do this again very soon and for other brands to follow. For now, you may want to follow Warby Parker on Snapchat, just to be prepared.

Game of Thrones knows exactly how to tease us. While season 7 won't be coming until summer of 2017 (sob), the show did premiere a teaser trailer at Comic-Con. It's not your usual teaser, however. It also contains some spoilers about what storylines we can expect to see advanced.

We're getting more of Cersai's reign from the Iron Throne, including a tease to what happens to that nun from the Sparrows that was imprisoned. There will be plenty of continued exploits from Sansa Stark and Jon Snow. And it seems there will be many, many funerals to come in Westeros if the plethora of eyes painted on stones are any indication.

Blair Witch Is Back To Scare The Bejesus Out Of You

Get ready to have your pants scared off again — a new Blair Witch movie trailer was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con yesterday and scared the crap out of everyone.

The movie’s sneak premiere was a shocker for pretty much everybody. The movie has been in production for two years, according to The New York Times, under the fake title The Woods. Lionsgate was so secretive that it even put out a fake marketing campaign advertising The Woods, including posters and a fake trailer — only to swap it all out for marketing featuring the real title, Blair Witch, after the big reveal.

The first movie, The Blair Witch Project, was released in 1999 as a found-footage documentary with a viral “is it real? Is it fake?” marketing campaign that captivated moviegoers. Naturally, the new movie can’t capitalize on claims of being real events, but as far as the trailer goes, it seems to do a pretty good job of being scary in a more traditional narrative format.

The story appears to follow the younger brother of one of the fictional film students killed in the original movie, who, in true horror-movie fashion, foolishly decides to lead a gang of friends into the haunted woods to try to discover what happened to his sister. The movie is slated to open on September 16.

“True story” or not, though, the trailer is pretty darn terrifying. Watch it below, but don’t blame us if you end up sleeping with the lights on tonight.

Does Wine Go Bad?

Welcome to Advice for Impatient Foodies, R29's new cooking column. Each week, our executive food editor and Impatient Foodie founder, Elettra Wiedemann, will tackle any and all questions you might have about food. Seriously, no query is too big or too small. Don't be embarrassed! We've all had moments in the kitchen when we had no idea WTF was going on and wished we could ask someone other than Google for some pointers. So, whether you need help frying an egg, knowing when your chicken is done, or deciding what to make for dinner, we've got your back.

I have a bad habit of letting open wine sit in my fridge or on my counter without being able to throw it away — you never know when you might need it for cooking or sipping! How long until wine really goes bad?

Photographed by Rockie Nolan.

I totally do this, too! Recently, I left a fantastic (and somewhat pricey) bottle of red on my counter, thinking I'd use the rest of it for drinking or cooking. I left for a trip/totally forgot about the wine and came back to what was essentially a bottle of unusable vinegar (and wasted money). Curses!

So, here's the deal: As a general rule, anything with sparkles will last one to three days after opening. Reds, rosés, and whites can survive up to five days. Whites and rosés should be stored in the fridge with a cork or wine stopper; reds in a cool, dark place with a cork or wine stopper.

Here's another idea: Take the remaining wine and freeze it in an ice-cube tray! That way, the wine won't go bad and you can pop out a wine cube when you're cooking or throw some wine cubes in with your white or rosé to keep it cold. Is that super genius or what?! Red-wine ice cubes would also be great to keep homemade sangria nice and cold, without watering it down.

Or, if you want to be super on-trend, you can also turn your leftover wine into wine slushies. Cheers!

Update: Suicide Bombers In Afghanistan Leave 81 Dead, Hundreds Wounded

Update: The death toll in the suicide attack on Kabul has risen to 81 people, according to The Associated Press, making the bombing the deadliest attack to hit Kabul in 15 years. An additional 231 people have been wounded.

This story was originally published at 10:45 a.m. EDT.

An attack on a protest march in the Afghan capital has left 61 dead and hundreds wounded, The Associated Press reports, with officials saying the death toll is likely to rise.

Thousands of members of Afghanistan’s Shia Hazara minority were marching in Kabul’s Deh Mazang square protesting the location of a new power line, which they said bypasses areas needing electricity, when an explosion ripped through the crowd.

The attack is the worst in months for the city, with the highest death toll since a bombing in April that killed 60.

ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack via its Amaq news agency, saying that the attack was carried out by two suicide bombers with explosive belts. The Taliban, which has carried out other bombings in the area, denied involvement with the attack via a spokesman.

The bombing came in spite of tight security measures, according to Reuters, which included helicopter patrols and the sealing of the city center. A presidential spokesman told The Associated Press that the government had received intelligence warning of an attack and had warned the organizers. He said that one of the bombers was shot by police before the attack and that three security personnel had been killed.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani condemned the attack in a statement shared with The AP. "Peaceful demonstrations are the right of every citizen of Afghanistan and the government will do everything it can to provide them with security," he said.

Stranger Things Star Nails Her Amy Winehouse Tribute

On Netflix's Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown barely speaks, which is probably why it seems so strange to hear her sing — and do it so well, might we add.

The actress, who plays a girl with some pretty interesting powers named Eleven, posted a video of herself singing Amy Winehouse's "You Know I'm No Good."

The British actress, who was born in Spain, has a series of YouTube videos that make it clear she is far more talkative than her character. In one video, she belts out the Back To Black track with the same attitude as the original.

With such a mature singing style, it's hard to believe this girl isn't even in her tweens yet.

Brown's awesome cover seems like a fitting tribute to Winehouse on the five-year anniversary of her untimely death.

Of course, Brown isn't the only person paying tribute to the late singer, who died of alcohol poisoning at the age of 27. Other fans are celebrating Winehouse's life and career on Twitter, calling her an "angel" and "an all-time legend."

Survey Finds Republicans Don't Like Game of Thrones

The GOP is not feeling GoT — at least that's what a new E-Score survey shows. The company, which tracks TV engagement, polled 1,200 respondents and asked them to label themselves as either Republicans or Democrats and choose their favorite primetime shows.

The results are surprising. Game of Thrones is the top show for Democrats, followed by OWN's The Haves and the Have Nots and The CW's Supernatural. The researchers found that these shows, in particular, illustrate that Democrats prefer "sexy," "edgy," and "emotionally involving shows" that feature strong characters.

Game of the Thrones, which is one of HBO's smash successes, didn't even crack the top 10 for Republican TV watchers.

Instead, the GOP is more into "family-friendly" and "funny" shows that are plot-driven, like AMC's The Walking Dead, and CBS' Scorpion.

What's even more telling is the racial makeup of the shows Republicans prefer. Democrats like shows that feature diverse casts and strong female characters, like How to Get Away with Murde r and Empire.

Republicans tend to watch shows driven by white, male protagonists, like The Big Bang Theory and Grimm.

Dr. Pimple Popper Takes On Her Biggest Challenge Yet

There’s no one out there who actually likes a pimple — except for maybe one.

Dr. Sandra Lee, a.k.a. Dr. Pimple Popper, has made her career on the gross little blemishes and built a huge following from the videos of her dealing with them. The gross, yet oddly fascinating, videos on her YouTube channel collectively have more than 675 million views since Lee started her channel in 2010.

But as practiced as she is, this one takes the cake.

Her latest video starts off with “ATTENTION: THIS IS NOT A DELTOID" written across the bottom. It’s a necessary warning: Whatever is under the woman's skin is so massive, it looks like she’s got another muscle layered on the upper part of her arm.

According to Dr. Lee, what’s actually going on is not an overdose of canned spinach, but a large lipoma, a type of benign fatty tumor. The woman says that she didn’t even notice it growing until it got so massive she couldn’t ignore it.

Skip ahead to about 13:30 to see the enormous pop, if you dare.

In its panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, Warner Brothers released a new Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them trailer that is perfectly magical. The surprise was introduced by star Eddie Redmayne, The Hollywood Reporter recounts. Attendees were each given their own magic wands, as well.

The trailer itself features many of the magical, fantastical beasts that are the subject of this J.K. Rowling project, an offshoot of the Harry Potter universe. It also introduces their most dangerous enemy: humans (or No-Majs). The trailer gives the first look at the supporting cast of the film, too, a contingent of American magicians. Not seen in the trailer are any of the Harry Potter favorites reported to be appearing in the film.

Director David Yates told the crowd that the monsters in the film include "one that can sniff out treasure and another that can shift in size," according to THR.

Watch the trailer, below. Fantastic Beasts is in theaters on November 18.

Can you believe it's finally here? It seems like just yesterday that we were celebrating National Cousins Day. What? You say you haven’t heard of National Cousins Day? July 24 is the day to reach out to those extended family members and let them know how much you care. Maybe you round up your crew and get together for a reunion or a backyard barbecue. Not that close? Then take the time to text your mom’s brother’s annoying kid a penguin GIF and suggest he chill out.

If you’re curious about which celebrities will be relaxing in the shade of their shared family tree this National Cousins Day, click through and check out some famous sets of cousins, some we all knew about and some even they only recently discovered.

Don’t worry if all of your cousin plans fall through this year. According to the National Day Calendar, July 24 is also National Tequila Day and National Drive-Thru Day. Best not to celebrate those at the same time.

Back in 2015, the genealogists at Ancestry.com were doing some Hunger Games- related research. They were looking for connections between Jennifer Lawrence and co-star Josh Hutcherson. Both actors have deep roots in the Deep South — Kentucky, to be specific. They didn’t find a connection between the real life Katniss and Peeta, but they did uncover a family tie with a different J Lawr co-star.

You could call it the ultimate X-Men and Avengers crossover. Mystique and Hawkeye are related. Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner, who starred together in American Hustle, are fifth cousins, once removed. They can both trace their roots back to a single ancestor in Kentucky. For his part, Renner was stoked. He celebrated the news with a tweet to his newly found cousin in advance of Thanksgiving.

“I’ll save a spot for you at the holiday dinner...CUZ!” he wrote with the hashtag #whoknew.

Snoop Dogg seems like he could host an excellent family reunion. If nothing else, you could certainly count of an abundance of awesome snacks. He could also have a serious family talent show, too, without even booking a DJ or making a Spotify playlist, by enlisting some of his cousins.

Brandy and her brother, Ray J, are Snoop Dogg’s first cousins. All three have waded into the world of reality TV and have managed to diversify their entertainment careers. Lots of showbiz smarts to go around in this family.

Ray J and Snoop Dogg have collaborated on several projects. Snoop appears in the straight-to-internet video for Ray J's "Smokin Trees" and Ray J drops in on Snoop's "Smashed The Homie."

While Ray J and Brandy grew up in California, all three cousins trace their roots to McComb, MS.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have been in the BFF hall of fame since they won an Oscar together for Good Will Hunting, so it kind of always felt like they were unofficially related. Then, Ben Affleck went on the PBS show Finding Your Roots and blew up the joint with news that he tried to keep some of his relatives under wraps. At least one member of Ben's family tree was familiar to everyone.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are 10th cousins, once removed. They share a common ancestor, Thomas Knowlton, according to Geni.com, a genealogy research site. That just begs the question for your next nerds-only dinner party: Batman or Jason Bourne?

The Amells have not one, but two, heroes from the CW’s DC Universe in their family. Stephen Amell plays the Green Arrow on Arrow. His cousin, Robbie, was on the short-lived The Tomorrow People and then joined the cast of The Flash.

Robbie Amell and Stephen Amell are first cousins; their fathers are brothers. The two recently teamed up for a crowdfunding campaign for their first joint project, a movie called Code 8. According to Indiegogo, the Canadian cousins have raised over $1.7 million.

It’s a shame the family isn’t more photogenic.

Speaking of Canada, some of the most famous imports from the Great White North are distant cousins. Ancestry.com did the research and found that Justin Bieber has a boatload of famous cousins.

Photo: Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic.

Ryan Gosling and Bieber are 11th cousins, once removed. According to Ancestry genealogists, both men can trace the roots of their family tree back to a couple named Mathurin Roy and Marguerite Biré. Mathurin and Marguerite were married in France and then moved to Quebec in the 1600s. Avril Lavigne is also Bieber’s cousin through the Roy-Biré line. Bieber’s even distantly related to Céline Dion. Oh, Canada!

You might not realize that Jason Schwartzman is part of a Hollywood dynasty. His mom, Talia Shire (Adrian in Rocky and Connie Corleone in The Godfather) is legendary director Francis Ford Coppola's sister. Filmmaking is a family affair in the Coppola household.

No joke, this crew could use awards as place cards at family dinners. Roman Coppola and his cousin, Jason Schwartzman, work together as writers and producers on the TV show Mozart In The Jungle.

Photo: Angela Weiss/Getty Images.

Roman’s sister, Sophia Coppola, is, of course, an accomplished writer and director, as well. The extended family also includes Nicholas Cage and a ton of other writers, directors, and producers. If you’re curious, The Hollywood Reporter broke down the whole family tree.

Melissa McCarthy is having a bona fide moment with Ghostbusters and the success of her fashion line, Melissa McCarthy Seven7. One of her first jobs, however, was working on the short-lived sitcom Jenny, starring her first cousin, Jenny McCarthy. The two don’t appear to be close, but that’s partly because of geography. Jenny lives in New York, and Melissa is based in L.A. Melissa told Howard Stern that the cousins are in “opposite worlds.” Whatever the case, smart money says a McCarthy family reunion would be hilarious.

Jenny McCarthy and her cousin, Melissa, grew up as part of a large Irish family in Chicago. Last summer, Jenny shared on Instagram a #tbt of “Me, my sis, and my cousin Melissa,” when they were children visiting a zoo.

David Cameron, who stepped down as U.K. Prime Minister following the Brexit vote, made headlines last year with an interview with Heat magazine. Cameron was asked if he watched Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The answer to that question was no, but he did have something to say about Kim and Co. The former PM says they are related to each other.

Photo: Carl Court/Getty Images.

David Cameron says that he and Kim Kardashian West are 13th cousins, sharing an ancestor named Sir William Spencer, born in 1555. This is all according to the genealogy research site Geni.com.
