Happy birthday to the multitalented Jenna Dewan Tatum! The actress, who turned 36 yesterday, received some seriously sweet birthday wishes on Instagram from husband Channing Tatum and friends.

"I'm not sure if this woman is my rainbow or my pot of gold but I'm lucky either way," the future merman captioned a photo of the-couple-that- Step-Up -built hugging beneath a picturesque, rainbow-studded sky. "Happy birthday cake baby!" Sigh...the pair have been married a bit over seven years and they just keep bringing the relationship goals.

Dewan Tatum's BFF, Emmanuelle Chriqui (a.k.a. Sloan from Entourage), posted a sweet testament to their friendship that brought the birthday girl to tears. "If pictures are worth a million words then this one is it for me," Chriqui wrote. "To know @jennaldewan is to know she is a ray of light, a magical unicorn, a beautiful alien, a soulful, passionate, wise woman, friend and mother with the biggest heart and a laugh that melts and softens and inspires joy and giddiness."

Makeup artist Patrick Ta also declared his love and appreciation for all things Dewan Tatum on Instagram, posting a video of the brunette beauty happily praising the sparkling red lip he gave her. "There are no words to describe how much I love this lip," she says before kissing the camera. Ta responds in kind. "Happy birthday to this beautiful soul," he wrote. "There are no words to describe your kindness."

Of course, that's not all. Dewan Tatum received an onslaught of happy birthday wishes all over social media and posted a heartfelt thank you. "Kisses for all of you!"

Attention, Gleeks: There was a reunion this weekend.

Okay, so it wasn't an official reunion. (BTW, when are you going to make that a thing, Fox?) But quite a few members of the Glee cast got together to celebrate a very special wedding.

Becca Tobin, who played Kitty Wilde on the show, married football player Zach Martin on Saturday. While we don't know the exact location, the snowy winter wedding looked absolutely beautiful (judging from the photos).

The guest list included castmates Kevin McHale, Jane Lynch, Meg Doyle, Michael Hitchcock, Jenna Ushkowitz, Matt Hodgson, and Dante Russo. Of course, nothing is real if it's not on social media. Luckily, the Glee cast took plenty of photos and shared them to Instagram.

Some of the best were of moments with the bride, toasts, and shots of the venue. There were also wedding doughnuts, instead of a cake. Yes, really.

Click ahead and see photos of all your favorite Gleeks together again.

Jenna Ushkowitz, Lea Michele, and Kevin McHale shared this group shot. Don't they clean up nice?

Photo: Via @jennaushkowitz.

Before the ceremony, Michele posted this photo. We don't know where they went, but it's gorgeous.

How about a little bubbly toast to the bride-to-be?

McHale captioned this one, "Don't come for me. I'll just be here."

But really, we understand why you'd want to stay. It's insane!

Guess who's excited about the big day? These ladies.

Beautiful background? Check. Matching robes? Check. Friends excited to share a major memory? Double check.

"When the wedding cake is actually donuts," McHale wrote. They look so good, too.

Slay, Ms. Michele. Slay.

The company also offers the option to personalize the simple carryall or get a few extra add-ons, like straps that turn it into a backpack or a fanny pack, cute BFF charms, or customizable luggage tags. Plus, it's already been seen on some pretty big-deal ladies: Jessica Alba, Georgia May Jagger, Lucy Hale, Julianne Hough, Nina Dobrev, and Emily Ratatjkowski, to name a few.

While the brand's Instagram says the black version is running very low in stock, our friends at the label let us know that the Noir and Cognac color ways are being restocked on December 7 — if you can't wait until then, you can currently shop the cotton-candy-pink iteration. Supernatural star Jensen Ackles and wife Danneel Harris have welcomed two new members to their family. Ackles took to Instagram to announce the arrival of his twin boys and their names are, well, so Dean.

"Danneel, JJ and I are excited to announce the birth of our twins Zeppelin Bram and Arrow Rhodes," Ackles wrote beneath a cartoon photo of Dr. Seuss's Thing One and Thing Two. "They were born early yesterday morning. Everyone is doing great!" (JJ refers to the couple's 3-year-old daughter, newly minted big sister Justice Jay.)

Zeppelin and Arrow, you say? The twins must be named after classic-rock bands Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith. Welcome to the Supernatural family, boys. You're in good company. Just maybe stay away from your TV grandpa.

The Internet Thinks Kylie Jenner Just Declared War On Christmas

Is Kylie Jenner declaring war on Christmas? With one seemingly innocent, emoji-filled tweet, the Lip Kit creator has inadvertently kicked off a holiday controversy the likes of which we haven't seen since...oh, right — last month. (Looking at you, Starbucks.)

"I can't wait to get my tree up for xmas," Jenner tweeted last night. Innocuous, right? Wrong.

According to much of the Twitterverse, her use of the common-but-controversial Christmas abbreviation "Xmas" was a big no-no that ignores the religious roots of the holiday. Many Twitter users were subtle, offering up quick corrections.

But others were a bit more pointed in their distress.

Others came to her defense.

Maybe this would be a good compromise?

This Is Officially The BEST Gilmore Girls Theory About Rory & Logan

$
0
0

After watching Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life and hearing those last four words, it was easy to make a few connections between Rory and Lorelai's respective love lives. Specifically, that Logan was Rory's Christopher. But what if Rory is actually more like Emily Gilmore — and Logan is actually her Richard?

It's a far less publicized theory that a commenter recently pointed out on Refinery29's Facebook page. "Emily and Richard met at Yale," Kelsey Davis posted. "Richard was engaged to someone his family approved of, while Emily was the other woman. Richard broke his engagement to be with Emily. Maybe Rory and Logan are Emily and Richard, not Lorelai and Christopher."

Well, that's a horse of a different color, now isn't it? It's not a new theory, but it's one that certainly gains some momentum after the show's revival. Not to mention, could be a nice tribute to one of the series' best couples.

I have definitely always been in the "Logan is Rory's Christopher" camp. The signs all seem to be there. They are both wealthy and charming. Both lack responsibility or the ability to ignore their family's plans for them. Even the fact that Christopher is such a fan of Logan's seems to tie these two together on a deeper level. But this theory definitely has legs.

Like Rory and Logan, Emily and Richard did meet at Yale, at a party while the Gilmore patriarch was a student. Emily was a Smith girl, naturally. Richard was planning to marry his Yale classmate, Pennilyn Lott — until he wasn't. Richard's mother, Trix, was a fan of Lott and her pedigree, even writing a letter to Richard the day before his wedding asking him not to marry Emily. That act of defiance certainly rivals Rory's dressing down by the Huntzberger's at a family dinner.

Logan is currently engaged to a French heiress named Odette, who the Huntzbergers think is the perfect match, even if he doesn't. It's clear he'd rather be with Rory and the fact that she's pregnant, possibly with his baby, could mean he'll break off that engagement and together, they'll live happily ever after, with baby making three.

As Reddit pointed out, there are other small clues in A Year In The Life that tease a connection between Emily and Richard and Rory and Logan. As one redditor mentioned, "[Logan] even mentions the red dress she was wearing when he saw her in Hamburg, just like Richard mentions Emily's blue dress," when talking about the first time he met her.

I would also point out that despite the circumstance of their kind-of relationship, Logan and Rory seem like partners. In college, they were partners in crime (quite literally with that yacht-stealing) who worked together to get the Yale Daily News out before deadline. As adults, Rory uses him as a sounding board. When she's trying to figure out her career path, she goes to him, not her mom, for advice. That seems like what Emily Gilmore would have called a partnership.

Of course, that bun in Rory's oven differs from Richard and Emily's story. It's definitely much more Maury than their affair. If the baby is Logan's, which only Matt Czuchry knows for sure, it's also a reason that fans could immediately shut down this theory.

Not so fast: The reason this theory works is that it shows Rory's life isn't completely full circle and that Amy Sherman-Palladino wasn't completely going the easy route her. Rory isn't another Lorelai like we always suspected or have been told she is. Having grown up the way she has, Rory also has a bit of Emily in her, too. Logan is not her Christopher or her Richard, but a bit of both.

If you side with this theory, it means Rory is a Gilmore girl through and through — and her adult life is starting to reflect that.

Before you buy a random spare charger for your Apple device, consider this advice: Be cautious. According to a study by Chartered Trading Standards Institute, a U.K.-based consumer protection organization, 99% of counterfeit Apple chargers bought online fail a basic safety test.

In the study, investigators bought 400 Apple chargers on the internet from different retailers around the world. Each charger was put through a basic test that would be required for the chargers if they were to be sold in brick-and-mortar shops.

In the test, high voltages were applied to the chargers. The authors wrote, "If the current is above the threshold, the unit is determined to have insufficient isolation with potential for electric shock."

Out of 400 chargers, 397 failed.

This study comes just a few weeks after Apple conducted its own study on third-party power accessories. That study estimated that 90% of Apple chargers and cables sold through Amazon were unsafe. This led to a lawsuit from Apple, which was filed in October.

The lesson here: Be careful where you get your chargers. They might be cheaper, but they may not be safer.

Olivier Rousteing Made Kim Kardashian The Dress That Gave Us North West

$

During a Q&A for Kim Kardashian's app, Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing spilled the beans on some major Kardashian intel: the night North West was conceived.

In the interview, Rousteing spoke at length about his first meeting with Kardashian at the 2013 Met Gala. He said, "My first meeting with Kim in three words, I would say surprising, I would say electric, and I would say love."

From then on, Rousteing and Kardashian became friends and fashion collaborators. He went on to say that the first piece he ever made for her was her bachelorette-party dress.

"This is a memory I will never never forget," he said. "She wanted something really unique and really special for a day that was special. So I kind of create that Marie Antoinette costume and it was really really beautiful."

But wait a minute, is that really true? After some thought, Rousteing realized that he was wrong. Sure, the bachelorette dress was the first he sketched just for her — with Kardashian's input. But it wasn't the very first time he dressed her.

"But you know what? I think the first that I made for her was not the bachelorette one, it was a long, electric-blue dress that Kanye requested," he said, speaking about a dress she wore to the Angel Ball in October 2012. You can see a photo of the dress, here.

It gets even better. Rousteing — with a few apologies to his bestie — went on to say, "And you know what is the most amazing thing about this dress that — I don’t know if I can say it, but I’m going to say it, I’m sorry Kim I want to say — is the night where North was conceived."

That would mean that North West was conceived on October 22, 2012. That sounds about right, since her birthday is June 15, 2013 — about eight months later.

Rousteing finished, "I don’t know if I can say, maybe it’s a secret, but I know that Kanye told me. So I just wanted to share with you guys."

Thank you for oversharing, Olivier. While you're at it, take some credit. You played a role in the glory that is North West.

The Twist In This Powerful PSA Gave Us Goosebumps

At first, this public service announcement seems to follow the mystery of a budding high school romance set to the whimsical tune of Shelby Lynne's sweet love song, "Johnny Met June." In this case, our Johnny is a somewhat shy, redheaded high schooler named Evan who finds himself so bored one day that he begins scratching words into a wooden library table to pass the time. Our June is an unknown girl who writes back to him on the aforementioned table. So begins a charming back and forth between the pair that subsequently plays out over the course of the school year. At last, we see the two finally — finally — stumble upon each other while signing yearbooks.

But despite what it may seem, that, my friends, is not the climax of this story. Rather, the climax comes bursting through the door like a dramatic record scratch when we least expect it — and boom. We are forced to realize that we are not, in fact, watching the story we thought we were.

Before you read on, watch the video, below, and see if the twist ending catches you by surprise.

While we were happily watching Evan's sweet search for adolescent love, a much darker narrative was unfolding in the background. An all-too-common narrative of gun violence and mass shootings whose ultimate reveal is heart-wrenching and disorienting — and that's precisely the point.

Did we miss it at first glance, because we weren't looking for it, because we didn't want to see it, or because we just didn't know what to look for? The group behind this powerful video, Sandy Hook Promise, is a nonpartisan nonprofit led by families whose loved ones were tragically killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School four years ago this month.

"When you don't know what to look for, or can't recognize what you are seeing, it can be easy to miss warning signs or dismiss them as unimportant. That can lead to tragic consequences," Sandy Hook Promise cofounder and managing director Nicole Hockley, who lost her first-grade son, Dylan, in the Sandy Hook massacre, told Adweek. "It is important for us to show youth and adults that they are not helpless in protecting their community from gun violence — these acts are preventable when you know the signs. Everyone has the power to intervene and get help. These actions can save lives."

Here's hoping she's right.

Do you love a burrito? How about a delicious burger? How would you feel if you could eat both of these tasty treats in one meal? Well, you don't have to guess anymore, because a burger-burrito mashup is coming to Park Slope, NY, in 2017.

Say hello to Burgrito's, a restaurant that sells a burger and fries wrapped in a flour tortilla. That beautiful combination is called a burgrito. According to Gothamist, the first NYC Burgrito's location will open in Brooklyn.

If you're not adventurous enough to try its mashup, Burgrito's also sells regular burgers and burritos. The restaurant also has burrito bowls and tacos, too. But let's be honest: You're really going there for the burgritos.

THE #burgrito hanging out at #burgritos #bethpage

A photo posted by Burgrito's (@burgritos) on

Now, if you're from California, the concept of a burgrito isn't new or exciting, especially since such a thing already exists, albeit with a bun and avocado rather than a tortilla. But for New Yorkers — who seemingly adore mashups like cronuts — this is a pretty big deal.

"It has its own unique flavor," Darin Laby, Burgrito's co-owner, told DNAinfo, noting that by excluding the beans and rice, it creates a different flavor. He called it "the best of both worlds."

The only problem we can see with the burgrito is that it's missing beans and guacamole. Let's face it: Who wants to eat a burrito without them? Surely, a proper burgrito requires these essential elements?

We can all judge for ourselves when Burgrito's opens at 173 Fourth Avenue, in Park Slope, next year.

Be careful where you buy your Standing Rock T-shirts, as they may, in fact, be counterfeit. According to BuzzFeed, Facebook scammers are cashing in on the Dakota Access Pipeline protests by selling merchandise with stolen "No DAPL" designs.

The website found that there are 60 Native American Facebook pages that are asking people to take a stand, but are really just trying to drive traffic to "dubious clickbait websites" that are based in countries such as Vietnam and Kosovo.

They are doing this by "selling counterfeit Native American merchandise, or by driving traffic to ad-filled websites that in some cases have little or nothing to do with Native American issues." Often, these sites falsely claim they are giving proceeds to Standing Rock, when, in fact, the money is going in their pockets at the expense of Native American designers.

Erica Moore, a Native American designer who created different T-shirts to benefit Standing Rock, told BuzzFeed that she has seen copies of her work going up on some of these websites without her permission. “I’ve seen my designs being sold without my consent, and I’ve seen people trying to re-design my design in some way to make it their own,” she said. “It just isn’t right.”

One particular Facebook page, Indigenous People of America, has reportedly been selling a knockoff version of a shirt created by actor Shailene Woodley to raise funds for Standing Rock. BuzzFeed found no evidence that the site was donating any money from the sales. If you are interested in this shirt, head to Omaze, which is the only official seller offering this design.

Other Facebook pages are offering official Native American merchandise from a website called NativeThing.com, but buyers have complained that the boots and and other items they have bought are from China.

Native designers explained that these fake companies are using sponsored posts to get into people's feeds. A Facebook page called Native American Cultures has been posting sponsored messages featuring photos of celebrities wearing Woodley's shirt and another featuring Johnny Depp wearing a shirt that has a Native American design photoshopped onto it. These posts aren't designed to give back, but to increase Likes.

It's something that upsets Native American designers who don't want to see their culture mistreated once again. "It weighs heavy,” Jared Yazzie, a Navajo who runs the Arizona-based Native American clothing company Oxdx, told BuzzFeed. “I hope people understand there is a livelihood behind [the designs]. The meaning that goes along culturally with the work is something we study and try to put out correctly.”

To make sure you don't get scammed, check out this list of websites to avoid when looking to stand with Standing Rock.

Turns out, there can be love in Bachelor Nation, sans rose ceremonies. After months of speculation, Becca Tilley has confirmed that she is dating fellow Bachelor alum Robert Graham, Us Weekly reports.

"I am dating Robert," Tilley told the publication at KIIS FM's Jingle Ball 2016 in Los Angeles on Friday. "It's fun. We've been friends for a long time and it was just a natural progression, and he's just amazing and been patient with me...I need someone that's patient and willing to deal with me, and he's been that way. So it's been fun, it's been an easy transition."

Tilley was the runner-up on the Chris Soules-fronted season 19 of the reality-show juggernaut, where she gained quite a bit of notoriety for being a self-proclaimed virgin. She later reappeared on the franchise's 20th season with Ben Higgins, finishing in fifth place.

Graham competed for Desiree Hartsock's affections on season 9 of The Bachelorette and later starred in the inaugural season of Bachelor in Paradise.

The couple first sparked romance rumors earlier this year when they began posting pictures of each other frolicking around Central Park on Instagram. Then, about a week ago, they took things to the next level by posting a professionally made, PDA-filled video from their vacation in Greece. ('Cause it's just not love if there's not a camera there to witness it.)

Good luck, kids.

What The Cory Monteith Autopsy Special Revealed About His Death

$

0
Photo: Broadimage/REX/Shutterstock

On Saturday, Reelz aired Autopsy: The Last Hours of Cory Monteith, which explained the circumstances surrounding the 31-year-old Glee actor's untimely passing. However, learning the details of Monteith's death is no consolation — instead, it's a reminder of how incredibly sad his story is.

Monteith's death was not only tragic, but shocking, as well. The TV star, who played the clean-cut football player Finn on the Fox series, was found dead in his Vancouver, Canada, hotel room on July 13, 2013. In the months leading up to his death, Monteith, who had battled drug and alcohol problems since his early teens, spent some time in rehab. Now, the new Reelz special suggests it was this time of abstinence that ultimately caused Monteith's sudden death.

Dr. Michael Hunter, a world-renowned forensic pathologist, takes viewers through a detailed examination of the circumstances surrounding Monteith's death. First, he talks about why Monteith's death was particularly odd — the actor was seemingly healthy, fit, and happy prior to his death. Hunter is able to rule out congenital heart failure, as well as alcohol poisoning. However, when studying Monteith's battle with drugs and alcohol in combination with his post-mortem toxicology report, it becomes clear that something is amiss.

Ultimately, Hunter concludes that Monteith's death had to do with a combination of alcohol and heroin. In addition to alcohol suppressing his central nervous system and acting with the depressant effects of heroin, Hunter states it was Monteith's time of abstinence that made the amount of heroin he used fatal.

Despite a few painful reenactment sequences that showcased Monteith's drug spiral, I found the Reelz special particularly illuminating. It shows the upward battle people suffering with addiction must fight on a daily basis, no matter how famous or beloved they are. Just one week before Monteith's death, he had attended an AA meeting. His friends and family stated that they rarely (if ever) saw him drink in the years before his death. It's clear that Monteith was able to manage his addiction for years, and that, tragically, one night off the wagon led to his death.

If you are struggling with substance abuse, please call the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357 for free and confidential information.

The Best Bralettes For Small Boobs

$

Update: This post was originally published on November 7, 2016.

We'll be the first to admit that small-chested ladies were dealt a pretty good hand when it comes to bra options. There are unique concerns associated with having less material up there, of course. But when boob support can take a backseat to style and personal preference, the lingerie floodgates open.

In recent years, we've seen the rise of the bralette, the ultimate fashion-meets-function solution for women with A and B cups. It has minimal support, optimal comfort, and a sleek look. And everyone has an opinion on them.

Think of bralettes as the grown-up versions of training bras. They also serve as an opportunity to experiment with lace, cutouts, and other cheeky details we may be a little hesitant to incorporate into our undergarment lineup. Most importantly, though, they're darn comfortable: lightweight, with a little bit of stretch that allows the bra to fit perfectly with the contours of our body, all the while keeping our modest cups in line.

There are many factors that come into play when picking the perfect bralette. But once you find your match, it's forever, baby. So we've rounded up our favorites — click ahead to find your bralette soulmate.

This one doubles as a top. What's not to love?

H&M Bra Top, $17.99, available at H&M.

A ribbed detail and a wide strap make this minimal stunner extra comfy.

Hailey Baldwin seems like she'd make a natural addition to Taylor Swift's girl squad. She's a model, BFFs with the Jenner sisters, and, like Swift's ultimate bestie Selena Gomez, has a complicated relationship with Justin Bieber. So why isn't Baldwin a card-carrying member of Swift's Instagram-famous crew, or seemingly invited to any of those lavish BBQs? The answer, according to Yahoo's Be, is that Baldwin is over the whole thing.

"I don't understand the Taylor Swift squad at all," said Baldwin when asked about the group that her pal Gigi Hadid is a loyal member of. “I don’t know what having a squad means. I just have my friends and that’s it... I don’t think that you need to create a public squad. I don’t know what that proves."

Honestly? Baldwin isn't wrong. Promoting your friends' hangouts on social media hardly makes your relationship with them any more meaningful. However, it should be noted that it's not Swift herself who is creating the idea of the girl squad — that's something the media came up with to classify the singer's buds.

Baldwin certainly isn't shy about sharing photos of her famous friends on social media. Here's a cute picture she posted with best friend Bella Hadid.

cheers to your 20th @bellahadid 😈 love you Bells❤️❤️

Ultimately, Baldwin may not have meant this comment as a dis at all. Maybe she understands that squads are a media creation and wants to make a point that there's no need to qualify friends with labels. Or maybe she just really hates Fourth of July parties, baking cookies, and cats. Either way, this is one model who won't be participating in Swift's squad's secret Santa this year.

The Oakland Warehouse Party Fire Is Now The Deadliest In A Decade

The death toll in a massive fire at an Oakland warehouse party over the weekend has grown to 36 — and authorities say they expect that number to rise.

Flames tore through the building, known as the "Ghost Ship," during a dance party Friday night. The cluttered warehouse had been converted into artists' studios and illegal living spaces, and former denizens said it was a death trap of piled wood, furniture, snaking electrical cords and only two exits.

It was the most lethal building fire in the U.S. in more than a decade.

Authorities have identified 11 of the bodies but withheld some of the names. Those whose identities were yet to be released included a 17-year-old and the son of a sheriff's deputy, authorities said.

Since the fire, survivors and friends of those who perished have placed flowers on several small memorials. Bouquets of sunflowers, single white roses, lilies, and carnations were stuck in chain-link fences. Votive candles burned on sidewalks, and Post-it notes paid tribute to the missing and the dead.

Kai Thomas and a group of red-eyed classmates from an arts high school in San Francisco pressed against police tape Sunday near the street corner where the "Ghost Ship" rapidly went up in flames, taking the life of a friend.

Three of the boys had been in the cramped and dark building, Thomas said, but one got separated from them 30 seconds before someone yelled, "Fire."

"It was just really smoky and hard to see," said Thomas, a high school junior who wasn't there, but recounted what he had been told by two others who didn't want to speak. "They jumped off the second-floor balcony and ran out."

The boys waited for their 17-year-old friend for more than three hours, but he never emerged.

The building had been carved into artist studios and visitors and former denizens said it was a cluttered death trap, piled with scrap wood, a mess of snaking electric cords and only two exits.

Lists of the missing circulated, as many living in the Bay Area took to Facebook to mark themselves as "safe," or to check on the status of a friend. Many of those who had been unable to reach friends in the past two days had given up hope when authorities said people either escaped without injury or died inside.

Authorities would not answer questions about the couple that operated the Satya Yuga collective. They were identified as Derick Ion Almena and Micah Allison. Both were believed to have been out of the building at the time of the blaze.

Almena had leased the space from its owner and then rented five recreational vehicles and other nooks on the ground floor as living spaces, said Danielle Boudreaux, a former friend of Almena and Allison. They held regular concerts and dance parties, like the one Friday, to make money, Boudreaux said.

Shelley Mack was drawn there by the promise of living among artists and paying a reasonable rent in an area where the tech boom has created a housing shortage and exorbitant leases. She left after a few months, two years ago, when the place failed to live up to its promises.

"Some people were happy to have a roof over their head even though there was no heat or no place to eat, or that it was filthy and infested," Mack said. "You just get sucked in because it seems like it's this nice place and this artistic community and they talk a good game. There are people there that wanted to be there and believed in it. And I think I did, too, for a little bit. And then…afterward, I was like, um no."

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

If you spent the better part of the past few months wondering whether you should get bangs, now’s the time to indulge your fringe fantasies. Cooler temps mean the sweaty-forehead-and-sticky-bangs sitch is a non-issue. And if you’re planning on hibernating indoors this winter anyway, you can just hide if the whole thing doesn't work out.

Chloë Grace Moretz — the newest member of the bangs club — will not be hiding. The 19-year-old actress, who’s flirted with longer side-bangs in the past, went all out this time around — and she looks like a total rock star.

Nose rings. Dresses over pants. Ear cuffs. Crop tops. To many people in the world, these trends are considered hallmarks of forward-thinking fashion folk. But to 1.25 billion people in India, not to mention the millions of Indians across the globe, these are as much a part of traditional fare as a button-up shirt and dress slacks: Nose studs are called phuls, and a salwar kameez is a tunic over a pair of fitted pants. Earrings are extended with sahaara chains that drape over your ear. And those crop tops? They're sari blouses, worn by women of all ages, shapes, and belly sizes.

This is all to say that when we went to India to shoot a story in Pushkar, Rajasthan about modern Indian fashion, we didn't try to shoot "new" Western trends or attempt to prove that "new" Indian trends look like Western clothing. With stylist Kanika Karvinkop as our guide, we captured a story about the nuanced politics of modern clothing.

"Modern fashion in India is inspired from tradition — it's adding and modifying the fashion, and not really going against or breaking any rules," Karvinkop says. But, regardless, it's still a departure from the norm — when we attempted to cast this story with a local model, most women we approached declined because the clothes were still considered improper. "The modernization of fashion in India is taking place only among the fashion-forward community in big cities — not in villages [like Pushkar]."

"Pushkar is a small town in Rajasthan known for a camel fair that happens in November at the time of the Kartik Purnima full moon," says Karvinkop. "It is a spectacle on an epic scale, attracting more than 11,000 camels, horses, and cattle, and attended by over 400,000 people over a period of around 14 days. It's one of the last great traditional melas, or fairs. The idea of the shoot was to dig into the age-old traditions of our country, and the Pushkar Mela seemed like the perfect fit."

Despite the rapid modernization in India, modern clothing is still seen as a symbol of modern ideas, no matter how much both respect tradition — it's a small version of the struggle that many women around the world are navigating. For our purposes, it's a conversation Indian designers are having with Indian women: How do you respect cultural traditions while giving women more opportunities to choose their own traditions? Below, we explore that idea with Karvinkop and a variety of Indian designers who are asking themselves those questions with every garment they create.

"Designers are definitely inspired by the past, but now they are making clothes that are more wearable, relaxed, and easy," says Karvinkop. "The beauty of the entire India Modern moment is that 'India' is in focus. Rules aren't being broken, they're being reinterpreted. Indian women are asserting their potential in every sphere of life. They are more active both inside and outside of homes. We see them in unconventional career choices. It is only natural and logical that clothing is evolving, too."

Traditional menswear in Rajasthan consists of a loose tunic called a kurta and drawstring trousers, called a lungi. This outfit is a spin on that silhouette — Karvinkop paired a dress by Rimzim Dadu with woven pants, two modern pieces utilizing traditional Indian textiles. The chain necklace is also native to Jaipur craft culture, and touches on a big emerging Western trend of oversized amulet necklaces. The weave on the dress is based on a traditional weaving technique of Gujarat called patola.

"The traditional patola is an extremely labor intensive weave," Dadu explains. "We took leather, converted it into fine cords, and used these leather cords in multiple colors to painstakingly weave a typical patola design... Modern fashion in India is a lot more experimental than before. And when I say experimental, I don’t mean over-the-top. In a culture where more is more, modern experimental fashion could be really minimal, as well."

"[Jewelry designer] Anrialpaly modernized the design of traditional antique silver Rajasthani jewelry and have made chokers and longer chains," says Karvinkop. The skirt is a nod to wide-legged chanderi dhotis, but the print isn't a traditional one. "These designers have made it more minimal and modern."

Here, the shirt is made with traditional Indian prints and fabrics, but cuffs and collars have been added. The pants are chanderi fabric, as well — Karvinkop added ankle ties to accentuate the volume.

People who've never worn a sari might not know that it takes a lot of effort (and hands) to tie a sari so it drapes like a dress. Designers these days are creating ready-made sari dresses, which are the equivalent of a clip-on tie. To accentuate the waist, Karvinkop layered on an apron skirt for fun.

Designer Rahul Mishra is one of the most well-known Indian designers globally, who's known for his rich fabrications and dramatic shapes. The jacket is Indian-inspired but in a modern, moto cut, and paired with a gold chanderi fabric. "Indians love a proper gold," says Karvinkop.

The holiday season is upon us, which means you're probably gearing up for that overload of cheer that comes with attending tons of holiday parties. Celebrating with friends and family is usually a good time, but the preparation that goes into making merry can be exhausting, even if you're not the one hosting. You've got to pick out a festive outfit, sometimes find a date, and then figure out the perfect host or hostess gift on top of everything else. Though I cannot personally help you out with the first two, I have come across a gift that will turn any gathering into a rip-roaring good time: Fireball in a box.

All the things you love about boxed wine — it's easy-to-pour, easy-to-transport, and comes in a massive quantity — now apply to this spicy cinnamon liquor. Your party people can emerge from the cold and enjoy a glass — or many — of delicious, warming Fireball. And, your host or hostess will be eternally grateful to you for adding some heat to his or her party. The Firebox, as it's called, contains two 1.75 liter pouches, so the party can go on and on. Honestly, that might be enough to last you to the new year.

Elizabeth Hurley and Hugh Grant dated for 13 years, from their meeting in 1987 to their split in 2000. Smack dab in the middle of their relationship was Hugh Grant's infamous 1995 run-in with the law. Grant was caught with a sex worker right off the Sunset Strip in L.A. The actor was arrested for lewd conduct, but he and Hurley stayed together for five more years.

Today, the one-time couple are good friends; Hugh is even Liz's son's godfather. But that doesn't mean Hurley is above taking a tongue-in-cheek shot at her ex on national TV.

Hurley stars on E! network's The Royals as Queen Helena. In Sunday night's season three premiere, the stressed-out, sex-starved queen's assistant sets her boss up with a male prostitute, as Entertainment Weekly notes. His name? Huge Grant. Helena doesn't actually wind up sleeping with Grant due to a very embarrassing mix-up, but the joke did not go unappreciated.

Well-played, Hurley.
