Director Admits This Rape Scene Was Nonconsensual & Designed To "Humiliate" Actress

Last Tango in Paris, a 1972 Bernardo Bertolucci film, is famed for its explicit sex scenes starring 48-year-old Marlon Brando and 19-year-old French actress Maria Schneider. At the time, it was given an X rating, the equivalent of a modern-day NC-17 — and to this day, its on-screen trysts remain controversial. Both Schneider and Brando, who have since died, later claimed that they felt violated and humiliated by Bertolucci. Here's why.

As Elle reports, a 2013 video of the Italian director, whom younger audiences will recognize from his work on Stealing Beauty and The Dreamers, has surfaced. The video shows Bertolucci admitting that the scene in which Brando's character, Paul, rapes Schneider's Jeanne, using a stick of butter as a lubricant, was planned without the actress' knowledge or consent. According to the director, he and Brando came up with the idea without involving Schneider.

"The sequence of the butter is an idea that I had with Marlon in the morning before shooting," he said during an event at Paris' La Cinémathèque Française. Bertolucci explained that he wanted her "reaction as a girl, not as an actress." In other words, he wanted her to actually experience the rape.

"I wanted her to react humiliated," he continued. "I think she hated me and also Marlon, because we didn't tell her...to obtain something, I think you have to be completely free. I didn't want Maria to act her humiliation, her rage, I wanted her to Maria to feel...the rage and humiliation. Then, she hated me for all of her life."

Though he offered that he felt bad about the decision "in a way," he expressed no regret.

In a 2006 interview, Schneider said she "cried real tears" during the scene. She also claimed that her co-star Brando complained of feeling "raped and manipulated" by Bertolucci, conveniently glossing over his role in Schneider's sexual assault. The actor died in 2004, followed by Schneider in 2011. Bertolucci, meanwhile, is still alive. His latest film, Me and You, was released in 2012.

#FitnessFriday current mood. @donsaladino gives me reason to hide!....

A photo posted by Blake Lively (@blakelively) on

Here's an idea for a sequel to The Shallows: Blake Lively is once again hiding from a terrifying predator who will rack her body with pain. This time, it's not a bloodthirsty shark. It's a personal trainer with visions of burpees and side planks dancing in his head. Run, girl!

If you photoshop in a seagull and a rash guard, Lively's latest Instagram looks like it came straight from a film set. The actress, who recently gave birth to her and Ryan Reynolds' second daughter, is playfully hiding under some gym equipment. Meanwhile, her personal trainer, Don Saladino, lurks menacingly next to her.

"#FitnessFriday current mood," she captioned the pic. "@donsaladino gives me [a] reason to hide!"

We know that feeling. Fortunately, we aren't expected to bounce back from childbirth straight into a bikini or designer gown. Unfortunately, we also don't get to have Reynolds work out those aching muscles when we get home from the gym.

Why Sam Claflin Wants Everyone To Know He's Been Photoshopped

This picture has been following me around for some years, and well, there are many people I want to thank for it: Firstly, the person who dedicated a lot of time and hard work training and sculpting their body to within an inch of its life. Seriously, well done! Secondly, the person who dedicated a lot of time and effort into resizing and reshaping my face so it fits on that body. I can only assume it's no easy feat, so congratulations must go to you too - for making this look even remotely realistic. And lastly, to everyone who actually believed (if even for a second) that this could be me. Wow. Bless you. Like, really, really thank you. I'm flattered. But it isn't me. It never was me. Don't get me wrong, I have worked out before, and I really like it when I do, but to THIS extent? Not something I've done yet. Maybe one day, eh? Right now, I'm enjoying my work, and being a Dad for the first time, and it's getting way too close to Christmas for me to spend any free time I DO have in the gym. But bless you. #dadbod #imhappyasme #imhappyasmeandyoushouldbetoo #merrychristmas #photoshopphonies

A photo posted by Sam Claflin (@mrsamclaflin) on

Sam Claflin wants us to know that he does not have the "perfect" body. On Friday, the Me Before You star confessed in a funny Instagram post that a widely circulated photo of him actually features the torso of a different person.

In the caption, he addressed three groups of people. "Firstly, the person who dedicated a lot of time and hard work training and sculpting their body to within an inch of its life. Seriously, well done!" he wrote.

"Secondly, the person who dedicated a lot of time and effort into resizing and reshaping my face so it fits on that body. I can only assume it's no easy feat, so congratulations must go to you, too — for making this look even remotely realistic," he continued. "To everyone who actually believed (even for a second) that this could be me. Wow. Bless you. Like, really, really thank you. I'm flattered. But it isn't me."

Photos of celebrities can give men and women alike the idea that the bodies our society idealizes are more common than they are. But Photoshop can drastically alter the shape of someone's body, as well as the appearance of their face.

Alterations as drastic as virtually transplanting a head on a different body aren't uncommon in the world of photo retouching. "There's a lot of the switching bodies up," an anonymous Victoria's Secret photo editor told Refinery29 earlier this year. Someone might ask her, for example, "Can you change these arms with a different girl's arms?"

Even without editing, something as small as the position someone stands in can make them look like a different person.

In reality, the perfect body simply does not exist, nor is it something to aspire to.

As for Claflin, he has different priorities. "Right now, I'm enjoying my work and being a dad for the first time, and it's getting way too close to Christmas for me to spend any free time I DO have in the gym," he wrote.

Props to him for reminding everyone you don't have to look like a fitness model in real life or in photos to deserve to be seen, loved, and accepted.

How This Woman Used Christmas Lights To Combat Homophobia

The U.S. has seen an alarming rise in hate over the past month, with the Southern Poverty Law Center documenting 701 cases of harassment between November 9 and 18. LGBT people are among the many populations left vulnerable.

Washington state resident Lexi Magnusson saw this discrimination firsthand when her neighbor knocked on her door and told her why she moved to their town outside Seattle. She made that decision, she said, after finding out her kids' old school allowed same-sex couples at the prom and taught students to accept transgender people. She felt this went against her Mormon values.

At first, Magnusson didn't know how to react. "I walked inside [my house] and rage-ate a bowl of nachos," she told The Huffington Post. Then, she did something that made a bigger statement. She bought 10,000 Christmas lights of all different colors and arranged them in a rainbow on the bushes outside her house.

"Our new neighbors are bigots. Since regular aggression leads to assault charges, I went with passive aggression. 10,000 lights later," she captioned a photo of the decorations on Reddit.

She told The Huffington Post that the process of decorating her lawn was "cathartic" for her, but took on a greater meaning when a gay cousin who likes Christmas decorations gave it his backing. "His approval was everything," she said. "I wanted the rainbow to stand out so there was no question as to what it is."

And now there isn't any question of where Mangusson stands on homophobia. Her display not only glows brilliantly, but also sends an important message of love on the holidays.

Kanye West & Kim Kardashian Are Reportedly Living Apart As He Continues Outpatient Treatment

Though Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are, by all appearances, still very much together, the couple is reportedly living apart as he receives outpatient treatment following his recent hospitalization.

Sources have told Us Weekly and People that the rapper, who left UCLA Medical Center on November 30, is currently living in a rental house. Kardashian and their two children, North and Saint, are not living with West. As People notes, the family owns a lavish Bel Air mansion, but also frequently stays at Kris Jenner's Calabasas, CA, home.

“Kanye isn’t at home with Kim and the kids,” one insider told People. “He is, instead, receiving outpatient care elsewhere with a medical team. Kim still seems concerned, but is supportive. They don’t know for how long Kanye will need outpatient care.”

"Kim is being very protective and doesn't want Kanye around the kids right now," claimed another source to Us Weekly.

West was hospitalized for exhaustion after abruptly canceling his Saint Pablo tour, ultimately spending nine days at the UCLA's Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital. Kardashian's October robbery in Paris put additional strain on the couple, though sources say they are making their marriage a priority during this difficult time.

“There are frustrations and problems, like any relationship, but they love each other deeply," a source told People.

Ryan Seacrest, an executive producer on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, echoed that sentiment in an interview with People on Friday.

"I’ve spoken to Kim," Seacrest shared. "I’ve not spoken to Kanye, but I think that things are going better now."

This Gilmore Girls Star Knows Who The Father Of Rory's Baby Is

$

The final four words of Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life left us with more questions than answers. Specifically, the question of who the father of Rory's baby is. But it seems there is one person who definitely knows the paternity of the child: Matt Czuchry.

In an interview with The Huffington Post, the actor who plays Logan Huntzberger said the last four words actually describe creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband, Dan's, baby. "It is their story. I’m very protective over those four words," Czuchry said. "They did tell me who is the father of that baby."

Of course, Czuchry doesn't feel it's his place to share that information with anyone. Czuchry previously said he doesn't think the four final words mean another season, but he told HuffPo if the Palladinos ever want to share the identity of Rory's baby daddy, it would be in the future.

"I think the purpose is...to fast-forward and see what kind of mother would Rory be, what kind of grandmother would Lorelai be [and], in terms of whoever the father is, would they be in that person’s life," he said. "Would it be different from Christopher or would it mirror that completely? Those stories aren’t told yet.”

That being said, he thinks fans should definitely have fun coming up with their own theories. Of course, no one needed permission to start wondering who the father is. Naturally, Logan seems like the logical choice, since we know he and Rory were together. And come on, Logan is so clearly Rory's Christopher, which would bring everything full circle.

Not to mention, Czuchry being the only one who knows gives a hint that there's a reason he needs to know.

In a recent interview with Vulture, Dan Palladino gave credence to the "Logan is the father" theory by saying, "I think people's hunches are probably not going to be too far off." Let's call it a hunch then that Huntzberger is going to be a daddy.

But there are those who are going with #TeamJess on this one. Bustle did some investigating and came up with a Mamma Mia! theory that definitely gives some legs to that school of thought. And it's not just because Stars Hollow: The Musical includes an ABBA-scored sequence.

In the musical (and movie) Mamma Mia!, a woman has a child, but doesn't know which of the three men she was seeing is the father. Why, what do you know, Rory was dating Paul (kind of), seeing Logan, and Jess was in town. The timeline checks out for the possibility that when Jess arrived in Stars Hollow that summer, the two could have hooked up. (She did sleep with a Wookiee.) It also could explain that final exchange between Jess and Rory in "Fall." You know, the one where he's just spying on her through the window, totally not pining.

If you're not interested in theories, but want some cold, hard answers, Lauren Graham may be the real key to all this. In a recent interview with TVLine, Graham said she believes the Gilmore girls have more stories to tell, even if she feels like Lorelai is in a good place.

“I can see more for Kelly [Bishop] and Alexis [Bledel] — I can see where that story would go for their characters,” she explained. “I can’t see what would be next for [Lorelai], but I imagine Amy can.”

Where Sherman-Palladino goes, Graham and the rest of the cast is sure to follow, which means one day — maybe not soon — someone besides Czuchry could know who the father of Rory's baby is.

Solange's Drop-Dead Cool Beauty Evolution Proves She's An Icon, Too

I'm about to say something that might make the Beyhive swarm me, but here goes: Solange is, by far, the cooler Knowles sister in my book. Beyoncé is an icon, plain and simple, but Solange is the friend I'd let have the final say in everything, from makeup and styling to music and art.

I (and everyone I know) fell for A Seat At the Table, her latest album that dropped in September, almost immediately. In celebration of this release, and the many appearances she is making to promote it, we're taking a look back at her beauty evolution. Because, after all, the same words that describe her music work for her looks as well: polished, innovative, and downright cool.

As you'll see in the slides ahead, her teens and early 20s were a parade of trendy looks, but then she broke away from the crowd by transitioning her hair to its natural texture, embracing a monochromatic signature look, and distinguishing herself from her older sister with edgy style that's all her own.

Click through the slideshow for proof that Solange is the queen of the cool girls.

2001

Solange hit the scene early, thanks to older sister Beyoncé. At 15, she attended the 14th annual Kids' Choice Awards with frosty eyeshadow and glossy lips, two early-aughts trends.

2003

Two years later, she attended the American Music Awards with her older sis. She kept the shimmery shadow and red box braids with curly ends going strong.

Photo: Getty Images.

2005

The experimentation cruised right into 2005. Here, Solange had traded in her red braids for long, caramel-highlighted waves.

2009

Solange is hardly recognizable here with side-swept bangs and bouncy curls.

Photo: Getty Images.

A month or so later, she was dipping her toes into eye makeup she'd later revisit: vibrant swipes of color fit for a night on stage — that matched her outfit, to boot.

Photo: Getty Images.

In one fell beauty swoop — a buzz cut, to be exact — the singer started on a path of style experimentation that cemented her identity as an artist.

2012

More than three years later, she's honed a look that will become her hair signature: big, natural texture with a center-part and bangs.

Photo: Getty Images.

2013

The next year, Solange stepped out for the premiere of Beyoncé: Life Is But a Dream in New York with glossy ringlets and vibrant red lips.

Photo: Getty Images.

In June of that year, she sported the same red lips (and a matching mani — a recurring theme for her) while performing at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.

Just three months later, Solange rocked an Afro and no-makeup makeup during Fashion Week.

Photo: Getty Images.

In November of that year, Solange stepped out with box braids that had loose ends, a look she's sported on and off, and a vibrant, matte lip color.

2014

During New York Fashion Week, she was a street style favorite. One glance at her hair and makeup, and it's clear why.

Photo: Getty Images.

In a rare appearance with a choppy, grown-out pixie, Solange pushed herself out of her own box for the Charles James: Beyond Fashion Costume Institute Gala — an event that calls for something novel.

Photo: Getty Images.

2014

In a Diana Ross-inspired moment at the CFDA Fashion Awards, the singer shines with full, voluminous texture and a center-part, bushy brows, and soft-pink lipstick. Long live disco!

One of our favorite looks is this one, where she wears an undereye swipe of vibrant, orange-red shadow.

Photo: Getty Images.

2014

Did you think badass Solange would take the traditional route for her New Orleans wedding to director Alan Ferguson? The hair! The lipstick! The jumpsuit!

Photo: Getty Images.

2015

The next year, Solange had found her trademark: a monochromatic palette. Here, she offsets the rusty-orange hue with a pop of colorful liner during New York Fashion Week.

Photo: Getty Images.

Later that year, she called upon the same avant-garde eye look from 2009 for FYF music festival in L.A.

Photo: Getty Images.

At the end of the year, she debuted long box braids that the internet went crazy for — paired with orange-red lips coordinated to her dress, of course.

Photo: Getty Images.

2016

In a truly iconic moment in her career, Solange appeared on Saturday Night Live in November with braids that were a work of art.

Photo: Getty Images.

Perhaps in an ode to her hair on her album cover, she artfully sported classic barrettes along her hairline for the CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. In the same hue as her outfit, obviously.

GLAAD Promises To Track All The Hate Speech From The Trump Administration

$

From his Access Hollywood tape to his comments about Mexican immigrants, Trump has left many concerned about how his administration will treat women, racial minorities, LGBT people, and other marginalized groups. To make sure these concerns stay front and center, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has launched a project to keep track of hateful comments.

The Trump Accountability Project lists all things Trump, Mike Pence, and other members of the Trump administration have said that could potentially further discrimination. They're organized by group, so that you can see what each person has stated about LGBT people, women, and certain races, religions, and nationalities, as well as other hot-button issues, like climate change.

By visiting the page, Americans can gain a broader understanding of what the people representing them think and journalists can accurately report on the positions politicians have taken on various topics.

It teaches us, for example, that Trump has advocated jailing people or denying them citizenship for burning flags and that Pence has called for a ban on LGBT people in the military.

Sarah Kate Ellis, GLAAD's president and CEO, told Newsweek that the page aims to aggregate opinions coming from all different platforms, so that people can see the big picture.

"We have an LGBTQ community, among other communities, that feel that we are living in a new America," she said. "We have had quite a bit of progress over the past years and there are concerns that some of the progress is going to be rolled back."

The initiative was inspired by GLAAD's Commentator Accountability Project (CAP), which does the same thing with anti-LGBT activists in order to combat misinformation spread in the media.

While the CAP specifically addressed the LGBT community, "the Trump Accountability Project includes the falsehoods, distortions, and outright lies Trump and his team have spread about all the marginalized communities living in this increasingly uncertain America," Ellis wrote for NBC News. "Because none of us today live in just one identity; rather, we live at the intersection of a multitude of identities. LGBTQ people are people of color, we are immigrants, we are people of diverse faiths and abilities — and we will all be affected by Trump's actions."

Our house is your house. Season 2 #premieres worldwide December 9 @netflix #cutitout

A video posted by Dave Coulier (@dcoulier) on

Everywhere you look on Instagram, the Fuller House cast is getting nostalgic at the real Full House house.

The cast of the Netflix series paid a visit to the San Francisco three-bedroom Victorian that the Tanners called home, but is now owned by Full House creator Jeff Franklin.

According to The Los Angeles Times, Franklin purchased the house that appeared in the show's opening credits after it went on the market in May and even repainted the front door back to red in honor of the show.

The show's original stars (minus John Stamos, Lori Loughlin, and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) were there to put their mark on the house, quite literally, leaving their cement handprints to be displayed in the backyard.

Dave Coulier (Uncle Joey) posted a clip of what the scene looked like outside the house. Safe to say, fans were happy to see the Tanners back in town and the cast couldn't have been happier to see them.

"Our house is your house," he wrote.

Bob Saget shared a photo and a joke: "One last view of us leaving our handprints in cement at the Full and @FullerHouse house," he wrote. "Dave had to be pried off after about an hour."

That was after posting a photo of him putting his own PG-13 spin on the Full House theme song.

"Everywhere you look there's a hand to hold onto..." Saget wrote alongside a photo of him grabbing Coulier's rear end.

Candace Cameron-Bure posted a photo of the ceremony with her TV family and sent a special thank you to Franklin.

"My Fuller House family all thanks to the man on the right Jeff Franklin for creating our shows," she wrote with a photo of her, Franklin, Barber, and her on-screen little sister, Jodie Sweetin.

Steve, a.k.a. Scott Weinger, also had fun recreating his prom pose with Candace Cameron-Bure in front of the red door. Perhaps it was because Cameron-Bure recently shared a photo of her real-life senior prom, which had her going with her fake boyfriend.

"Yup, this really did happen," she wrote, cueing her own "aww."

Makeup Artist Covers Her Face In Glitter & The Effect Is Mesmerizing

It's impossible to have too much of a good thing, at least when that thing is glitter. That's why we're mesmerized by this video shared by Teen Vogue, where makeup artist Katie Butt coats the entire surface area of her face and neck in fabulously sparkly colors.

She applies glitzy bronzer, lipstick, eyeshadow, and blush until she shines like a golden statue — even her eyebrows glisten.

If you dare to replicate the look, the Instagram caption lists everything she used, including glitter from Glittertubes and Glitter Injections, as well as brushes from My Brush Set.

Another option is to get a set like the new Pat McGrath Metalmorphosis 005 kit, which includes cream and metallic pigments you can use all over your face. You can also create glittery eyes by outlining the places you want to sparkle with white eyeliner, going over the lines with eyelash glue, then dabbing glitter on them. As for the lips, you'll want to apply lip balm and a lip pencil first, then put on the glitter with a tissue under your mouth and gently blow out to remove stray sparkles.

We'd imagine it's not exactly comfortable to have so much stuff on your face, but it's definitely one way to stand out.

GLITTER FACE Hi guys I hope everyone's Monday isn't too bad! American Airlines Flight Attendants Say Uniforms Are Making Them Ill

Update, 3:15 p.m.: A spokesperson for American Airlines tells Refinery29 that three lab tests on the uniforms have declared them to be "garment-safe." The third and most recent test analyzed more than 100 pieces of worn and unworn garments as well as boxes and packaging materials.

Airline spokesperson LaKesha Brown added that American Airlines is working on an individual basis with employees, offering them dermatological testing and providing alternatives to the new "wool-rich" uniform, including the option to wear old uniforms or purchase other garments.

Brown added that more than 70,000 American Airlines employees, including pilots and other crew members, have received the new uniforms. At this time, only the APFA has called for a recall.

Next week, the airline and APFA will visit the manufacturer's warehouse to jointly select more uniforms for testing.

This article was originally published on December 3 at 2:15 p.m. EST.

CNN reports that American Airlines flight attendants are claiming that the airline's new uniforms are responsible for a slew of health problems. On Friday, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) issued a statement demanding that the uniforms be recalled.

"We feel a remedy that excludes a full recall of the uniform fails to adequately protect our members," the union, which represents 26,000 American flight attendants, stated.

Since they were introduced in September, the uniforms have been blamed for more than 1,600 adverse health reactions. Cabin crew has complained of headaches, rashes, burning skin, eye irritation, and respiratory problems.

The airline is continuing to test the uniforms, but isn't ready to issue a recall yet. Instead, the Dallas-based company has offered dermatological testing to pinpoint the cause of the reactions. Employees may also request alternative fabrics, though the union claims that the manufacturing, not the materials, may be at fault, which would render that option moot.

"We know some people are having reactions and we're looking into why," a spokesperson for American Airlines told CNN. "We have no doubt the uniforms are safe."

Muslim Comedian Surprised To Be Seated Next To Eric Trump On Flight

An Arab-American comedian got more than he bargained for when he boarded his flight to Glasgow, Scotland, this week. His seat mate was none other than Eric Trump, younger son of President-elect Donald Trump.

Mo Amer posted a selfie with Trump, telling his Instagram followers that he took the opportunity to pepper him with questions about his father's attitude towards Muslim citizens.

"Hey guys heading to Scotland to start the U.K. Tour and I am 'randomly' chosen to sit next to none other than Eric Trump," Amer captioned the photo. "Good news, guys; Muslims will not have to check in and get IDs. That's what I was told. I will be asking him a lot of questions on this trip to Glasgow, Scotland. Sometimes God just sends you the material."

In an interview with BuzzFeed, Amer admitted to being dumbstruck when he saw Trump. The two men were seated in business class on the flight from Newark, NJ, to Glasgow.

“I was just walking in and he was just sitting there with his Trump shirt on and I was like, Is this real? ” he recalled. “ Is this real? Is this a setup? I mean, I’m an Arab-Palestinian, everything is a conspiracy, right? So when I walked into the plane I was like, What is this? This is obviously from Allah — Allah is just trying to hook me up right now. That’s what’s happening."

Amer wasted no time in calling out a rumored Trump policy that would call on Muslims to join a registry. According to him, Trump dismissed the idea.

"Ah, come on, man," Trump allegedly responded. "You can’t believe everything you read. Do you really think we’re gonna do that?”

Amer also claims that Trump branded Hillary Clinton as "crooked and so unlikeable" and admitted that his father "played this thing like a mad genius and that's how he got elected."

Though it sounds as though Amer and our future first son had a fruitful discussion, the interaction still left Amer cold. Amer wrote that Trump seemed "disconnected from the reality of race attacks and violence" and speculated that he had no regrets about his father's campaign.

The business-casual dress code is one of the most difficult to define, and that might have something to do with the fact that it's a complete oxymoron — seriously, how can one be "business" and "casual," at the same time? Plus, it depends on where you work or where you're going. For some, the look may veer more toward the uber-professional. For others, a more laid-back, less dressed up aesthetic is the norm. Either way, you've likely found yourself in front of your closet at one point or another with a giant question mark hovering over your head.

To navigate the business casual world, we've decided our definition includes looking polished, while still leaving a little wiggle room for fun via subtle ruffles, prints, and unexpected cuts. As long as your outfit adheres to your office dress code, there's no reason to not get creative. That's why we're supplying you with the essentials that will get your workwear wardrobe on track. With a collection like this, that question mark is about to disappear.

A versatile printed trouser goes a long way.

For those with a more classic office dress code, try a less buttoned-up take on the pencil skirt.

Finery London Deloraine Tie Split Front Jersey Skirt, $65, available at Finery London.

Experiment with trend-forward tops that are still sophisticated, like this blouse with exaggerated sleeves.

H&M Wide Sleeve Cotton Blouse, $29.99, available at H&M.

J.Crew Gemma Suede Flats, $98, available at J.Crew.

Nois Two Color Stripe Shirt, $90, available at Nois.

Who says jumpsuits are only for the weekends? This retro option still checks all the work-appropriate boxes.

Staud Ziggy Jumper, $265, available at Staud.

Any piece you can wear multiple ways is a win — break this dress out for a Friday, or throw it over some sharp trousers for a Monday.

Get your hands on a polished black bag that still has a super-modern feel and silhouette (not to mention an adorable charm).

Camelia Black Leather Shoulder Bag, $116, available at Camelia.

If you can get away with a pair of jeans at work, stick to a dark wash with minimal distressing and a sophisticated cut.

3x1 M2 Military Cropped Jeans, $265, available at Moda Operandi.

Time to lighten up in the love department, everyone. This Wednesday, Venus joins her dance partner, Mars, in Aquarius, where she'll hover until January 3. Aquarius energy is free-spirited, experimental, and even a little rebellious. With the cosmic lovebirds rocking out here, we may all get a little freakier...or just open to untapped possibilities. Don't get hung up on having a type, because the stars could have a surprise in store. Couples might widen their horizons and do a little, uh, exploring now. Need to go on a relationship sabbatical? Aquarius energy can be more about "universal love" than fairy-tale romances. Get your fix from the company of great friends or even by getting involved in an activist mission — another passion the Venus-Mars merge in Aquarius can stir up.

The fact-checkers are out in droves this weekend as stern Saturn and the sun sync up in outspoken Sagittarius. In this post-truth world, it's hard to even know what to believe anymore. But before you engage in any deep, political discussions check your own sources. Did you get hooked by a fake news story — and can you debunk someone else's with legit facts? If you have a credible source backing up your assertions, speak up!

Sagittarius

November 22 to December 21

Double down on those dating apps, Archer. Variety is the spice of your love life as amorous Venus heads into Aquarius and your flirty third house from Wednesday until January 3. As the zodiac's official bachelorette, you'll have fun handing out roses as 2016 winds down. But hang on to that final bloom if you're single and give yourself a chance to sample a variety of options. Someone from the friend zone could reveal romantic promise or you could simply add a benefits package to your bond. If you’re coupled, keep things fresh by diversifying your date planning. You don't need to be the joint mayors of “the usual place” right now. Surf the local listings and cultural activity guides — and make a point of checking out new venues at least once a week.

This weekend, reserve some time for "me, myself and I." The self-authorized sun and ambitious Saturn align in your sign for the only time this year, helping you make progress on personal projects that you'd like to wrap up before 2016 is through. Too much social energy could summon your inner Grinch, so if you're planning to hang out with friends, squeeze in a disco nap or a trip to the spa before you brave the crowds.

Capricorn

December 22 to January 19

Find that slow-jams playlist and turn on the bedroom speakers. Venus downshifts into Aquarius and your sensual second house from Wednesday until January 3. Seduction is an art form that should not be rushed. Take your time and draw things out. It will only make it hotter when you finally do hook up. And good news! Instead of the heartbreaking rebels, you’ll be attracted to the stable types now. If you’re already attached, clear some space in the calendar to just chill together, analog style, without the distraction of your Snapchat alerts and flashing screens. Talks could turn to finances, too, and how to better utilize the funds you have between you. With decadent Venus here, you might go in with your sweetie on a luxe purchase.

Devote the weekend to some epic recharging when the self-authorized sun links up with your ruler Saturn — and in your 12th house of escape and healing, no less. Doff the elf outfit and slip into the fluffy spa robe. Whether you’re drawing a bubble bath or lying down for a 90-minute massage, consider this recharging time preventative medicine. Once you’re thoroughly relaxed, give your space a deep clean, hauling out the old and outmoded before 2017. Just don’t race to replace it. Enjoy the magic of minimalism.

Aquarius

January 20 to February 18

Glow on! Charming, radiant Venus makes her annual visit to Aquarius from Wednesday through January 3, blessing you with major magnetism. You’ll be in demand both romantically and with your 1,001 friends. Spread yourself around, but be careful not to give your sweetie the short end of the stick. Single Water Bearers could enjoy a dating spree — no rush to settle down now! If you’re already spoken for, give yourself a longer leash — not for cheating, but for exploring your autonomous interests. Momentum-building Mars sails through Aquarius until December 19. With all that drive and creative energy, you could end the year feeling like a celebrity. Besides, a little distance won’t divide; it will create the oxygen needed to keep the flames burning bright.

Over the weekend, the self-authorized sun makes a direct connection with discerning Saturn in your teamwork zone. While you couldn’t care less about people’s judgments, you can’t deny that you’re influenced by the company you keep. Stock your social network with people who are on a similar flight path to the top — or whatever corner of the world you want to land in next. Tighten up the radius of your inner circle, too. That way, you’ll have time for rewarding connections instead of letting the divas dominate your schedule with outrageous demands.

Pisces

February 19 to March 20

Fairy-tale romance, Pisces? On Wednesday, Venus slips into your fantasy-fueled 12th house until January 3. When it comes to love, you’ll gladly rock the rose-colored glasses, which might help would-be suitors crack your defenses. But don’t throw good sense out the window after dropping your guard. Run the background checks on your sweetie and remember to pace yourself. Music and dance can be a powerful bond for Pisces and you could meet someone at a concert or club this month. Attached? Before the holidays, slip off for a sweet escape. A few nights at a remote cottage or a beachfront hotel can rev up romance before you have to deal with all the family duties that lie ahead. Some old fears could be stirred, but diplomatic Venus helps you discuss them lovingly and proactively. Don’t sweep them under the rug. Dealing means healing.

Over the weekend, your focus turns back to your career. Is there an ambitious goal you need to tick off before 2016 wraps? With the confidence-boosting sun and masterful Saturn aligned in your success sector, you could make major headway on that important mission. Has Beyoncé's "Daddy Issues" been a theme song this year? This weekend, you can start to make peace with a father figure — or find a way to honor his contributions to your life.

Aries

March 21 to April 19

Just buds...or is something more brewing? On Wednesday, you could be feeling the frisky vibes with a platonic pal as Venus moves into your friendly 11th house until January 3 — and travels alongside her partner Mars until December 19. Your sense of humor will be the most powerful tool in your amorous arsenal during this phase, so make 'em swoon with your witty one-liners. And stay open: A friend of a friend or a “random stranger” you meet at a holiday soiree could turn out to be more than just a passing attraction. Keep the dating apps open as Venus and Mars are traversing this tech-friendly one of your chart. If you’re already spoken for, socializing as a couple helps to seal your bond. No matter your status, you'll be feeling a lot more experimental. Polyamory? OM-ing? Sploshing? Hey, ya never know.

Over the weekend, cast your eyes on distant vistas. With the sun and master-planner Saturn scheming in your ninth house of travel, it’s time to start investigating your next big pilgrimage. Not that you should hop on a flight immediately — unless you've been researching for a while. In that case, you could radar in on "just the thing." Your journey might even involve an educational component or teacher training...and definitely a passport!

Taurus

April 20 to May 20

Who says business and pleasure can't mix? With your ruler, charming Venus, blasting into your ambitious 10th house from Wednesday until January 3, strategic socializing is the way to get ahead. Moreover, her dance partner, Mars, will accompany her through your 10th house until December 19. Stock your party clutch with business cards, because you never know who you'll meet at that industry shindig or random dance club. You could find love through a work function over the next three weeks, but careful not to blur the wrong lines. Before 2016 wraps, get in the good graces with the office influencers — and create a healthy wedge between you and the office complainers and gossips. Venus is the celestial stylist: Gloss up your professional presentation with a few wardrobe upgrade and ask Santa to gift you a session with a headshot photographer.

Over the weekend, your inner Grinch could pop by for a visit. Answer the call. You’re on overload, Bull, and need to break off for some private time. Tend to your own needs and you’ll be back to your sunny self by Monday. With the sun and serious Saturn connecting in your intimate eighth house, you’ll crave more security from your relationships. Lay down the ultimatum with anyone who’s been waffling. But before you deliver the "all or nothing" speech, vow to make good on your words. Sometimes, the only thing that wakes ‘em up is the sound of your heels clicking out the door.

Gemini

May 21 to June 20

Say oui to "we," Gemini. This Wednesday, love-planet Venus cruises into Aquarius and your worldly ninth house until January 3. A festive foreigner rolling through your town could be the holiday hottie you've been waiting to meet. If you’re vacationing over the coming three weeks, your sojourn could bring a seductive surprise. Coupled Geminis, start pricing out Airbnbs and Caribbean resorts. A getaway for two is just what the love doctor ordered. A shared adventure can be the glue that binds you together. One catch: Mercury will be retrograde from December 19 to January 8, so you might even take this trip before the holidays to avoid overcrowded venues and cheesy tourist types harshing your vacation buzz.

Over the weekend, relationships are a hot topic again as the expressive sun and long-term planner Saturn sync up in your seventh house of relationships. When it comes to partnerships, you can run hot and cold — but not when you’re truly into someone. An attractive opposite could steal your heart or win your loyalty for a creative collab. If you’re ready to move on from an unsatisfying connection, this weekend could bring a sad, but necessary, farewell. Just remember: When one door closes, another one opens.

Cancer

June 21 to July 22

This Wednesday, Venus — the planet of amour — slinks through Aquarius and your erotic eighth house until January 3. For the rest of 2016, you'll be in your sultriest element, drawing admirers like moths to a flame. Flattering? Yes, but during this intimate Venus cycle, you need someone who shares your preference for rolling in the deep. Skip the peacocks and find out what that enigmatic artsy type is thinking. A few cat-and-mouse games can stir up the intrigue as long as you don't play too hard to get. Already attached? Keep a firm privacy policy in place. Sharing secrets with your S.O. brings you closer and you'll enjoy more "just the two of us" time behind closed doors. Your bond could become more exclusive as 2016 winds down. Think: apartment hunting, ring shopping, or meeting the parents.

Over the weekend, the sun and stern Saturn align in your sixth house of healthy living. Has that Thanksgiving pecan pie has turned into a few too many hand-in-the-cookie-jar indulgences? We're not suggesting you miss out on seasonal treats; just think about adding more green smoothies along with those eggnog lattes. Earmark weekly exercise classes to keep your energy and productivity levels high. Then, review your end-of-year goals: What accomplishments will bring the greatest ROI? Prioritize these. Then, put the rest on hold until 2017. With focus, you could wrap the year with an impressive feather in your fedora!

Leo

July 23 to August 22

Did Cupid fall into a carb coma over the past few weeks? Not to worry, Leo. This Wednesday, love-planet Venus cruises into Aquarius and your seventh house of committed relationships until January 3, reawakening your love jones. While you'll enjoy dressing up and turning heads on the street, this Venus cycle could also find you crushing on the "committing kind." Already involved? Your relationship can deepen immensely under this Venus spell if you put in a little effort to keep the spark lit. Fill your shared calendar with seasonal soirees, cultural activity dates, and creative projects that play to both of your talents.

Over the weekend, the expressive sun and serious Saturn host their annual meetup, gathering their forces in your fifth house of fame and public image. Is it time for a little rebranding, Leo? Scroll through your social-media profiles and do a wardrobe inventory. Are you putting your best foot forward? With Saturn parked in this position until December 19, 2017, you want to be taken seriously at first glance. A few sophisticated upgrades may be in order, as long as you don’t lose your rock-star edge.

Virgo

August 23 to September 22

Who says you can't be a healthy hedonist this holiday season? On Wednesday, decadent Venus cruises into Aquarius and your sixth house of healthy living until January 3. What will it get you glowing with vitality for those family portraits and party Instagrams? Forget about fixating on makeup and hair. Just get your body moving. The sexy endorphins that come from a post-workout rush will have you beaming like the top of the Empire State Building. Make room on your plate for more lean, green food, too. You are what you eat: the true beauty secret. While you’re at it, turn your bedroom buddy into your fitness buddy. Then, enjoy more satisfying marathons between the sheets.

Over the weekend, scan the four walls that house you. Could they use a fresh coat of paint or more sophisticated (or colorful) art? Maybe the rent creep is getting a little too high for your liking with all the YIMBYs overtaking your neck of the woods. If you’re burning through paychecks to cover all your monthly bills, consider a few cutbacks. It might be time to get a roommate or to start shopping around for a more affordable apartment. Has a relative been overstepping bounds? This weekend is when you put ‘em in check — before you gather for family celebrations later in the month.

Libra

September 23 to October 22

Oh, you pretty thing! This Wednesday, radiant Venus — your ruling planet —sashays into Aquarius and your passionate, glamorous fifth house until January 3. You'll definitely turn some heads during this three-week cycle, but don't rush to settle down until you've tested out Cupid's sampler platter. If you're in a relationship, the holiday season could herald a romantic milestone — even a proposal or pregnancy if you're ready to take that leap. Venus is the cosmic creatrix, so make room for the muse this December. Just get thee to the bedroom...or the studio! And pull out that selfie stick selectively. This Venus cycle can vault you to celebrity status, so don't be shy about posting pics and promoting your talents. The camera loves you, Libra.

Over the weekend, snap the red velvet rope into place. With the expressive sun and serious Saturn in your friendship house, you'll want to be discerning about the company you keep. Small talk is a time suck you just don't have time for. But your BFF, sister, or S.O. may be craving your undivided attention — and this is a prime opportunity for bonding with your biggest supporters. Your mind is sharp, too, so keep a capture tool handy. Ideas could spring forth for a project — along with a savvy plan for how you’ll pull it off.

Scorpio

October 23 to November 21

Sensitive Scorpios need home to feel like a sacred oasis, a place to shut out the world and recharge. This Wednesday, aesthetic Venus decamps to Aquarius and your domestic fourth house until January 3. Give your nest a proper feathering: rotate the art, update your duvet cover, and ask Santa for booming Bluetooth speaker so you can pipe your playlist into your bedroom (and as background ambience during your long soaks in the tub). With Venus in this feminine zone, plan more GNOs before 2016 is through. You never know: a female friend could wind up playing Cupid by connecting you to one of her friends. Attached? Hunker down and play house together. Staying in doesn't have to be boring: In-between Westworld marathons and bedroom marathons, how about co-hosting a holiday party for your mutual friends?

Although the year is winding down, you want to end it in good graces with your boss and colleagues. This Saturday, the sun syncs up with serious Saturn in your income zone, helping you sharpen your Q4 game plan. Are you ready to reach for a higher rung of the ladder? These tips, like printing out hard copies of your résumé and practicing the "shine theory," can help you get there at record speed. Give your budget a thorough once-over. You may need to scale back your spending this season, but no shame in that. Just be creative. For example, you could pool funds with siblings for a group gift so you can give your mom something truly meaningful this year. Get it organized this weekend.

The Best Of Saturday Night Live With Emma Stone

$

0

Saturday Night Live returned from its Thanksgiving break with none other than America's sweetheart, Emma Stone, and teen dream Shawn Mendes.

Overall, the episode was fairly strong. The best sketches of the night didn't hinge on one person or theme, but touched on a little bit of everything happening in pop culture. The real breakout moments were Jennifer Aniston's cameo, Emma Stone's "Christmas Candle" song, and Alec Baldwin's Twitter-obsessed Trump.

Perhaps the most noteworthy moment from last night's episode didn't happen on-air, but rather on Twitter, when President-elect Trump responded to the show's sketch in real time. He tweeted, "Just tried watching Saturday Night Live — unwatchable! Totally biased, not funny and the Baldwin impersonation just can't get any worse. Sad."

We thought it was pretty damn funny — but, please, click ahead and decide for yourself.

"The Christmas Candle"

Thank you, SNL, for making an entire parody song about the magic of finding a candle for that one person you don't want to shop for. Thank you for the early '90s hair and makeup. Thank you for the sweater-vests. Thank you for the Wilson Phillips-style video. Just...thank you.

Rachel From Friends Meets Rachel IRL

Did anyone expect Jennifer Aniston to pop out and surprise the SNL audience? Hell no, but we're so glad she did. There are few things as funny as Vanessa Bayer and Jennifer Aniston trying to out Rachel each other.

Trump Can't Stop Tweeting

The SNL cold open didn't feature Emma Stone, but it featured something better: Alec Baldwin mocking Donald Trump's obsession with tweeting random people he doesn't know. The best part was when a skeleton in black pretending to be Steve Bannon. Now, it's the fact that Trump responded to the skit...on Twitter.

The Hunt For Hil

This skit is absurd, but you can't help but laugh, given the numerous Hillary Clinton "sightings" on Facebook in recent weeks. And let's face it, what's funnier than Clinton's call being that awkward Kate McKinnon laugh?

Wells For Boys

The funniest part is actually when they suggest the other toys, like the broken mirror for him to "examine the complex contradictions of their being."

High School Theatre Show

What's more ridiculous: Emma Stone's wig, the cast of SNL pretending to be teenagers, or their horrible show? It's a pretty close call.

You Need To See How This Magic Topcoat Transforms Boring Nail Polishes

Even if you have a trust fund to pull from (how nice for you), there are likely some beauty products you'd still never consider spending more than $7 on. Maybe it's mascara or lip balm — perhaps body wash or shampoo. Me? I will never understand the woman who buys fancy base and topcoats. (Even the ones that claim to give a "gel effect" have never made my manicure last any longer than the cheap, diluted stuff at my corner nail place.) A shiny sealant is a shiny sealant.

Unless, I found out, it's Chanel. And black. Then, it's a whole lot more. See, this new topcoat (out in January) lets you cut your nail polish collection in half without feeling any loss, which is great news for those who want to live like Marie Kondo in the new year, but also try to claim that every last Q-tip, hole-y sock, and dried-up polish sparks some sort of joy. But how? Because a coat of it over the brightest colors instantly turns them dark and moody.

Just see below: Bare nails turn to gray; hot pink to plum; navy to black; cherry-red to ruby-red; and white to, well, I'm not sure...that one wasn't great.

Every year, editors write — and you read — stories about how to change up your beauty routine for the season. Add in more hyaluronic acid! You need a weekly hair mask! Get these must-have shades from the runway! All that stuff adds up fast. But consider this a way to save a lot more money in the new year: Drop $28 on a black topcoat now (while ignoring the haters — formerly me — who say a $28 topcoat is insanity); then, delight in how it transforms all the summery shades you already own into the trendy winter ones your friends are running out to buy.

A Little Ode To Black Jeans That Aren't So Black Anymore

$
0

I have two bottles of Woolite Black detergent in my closet, both purchased with good intentions after I came across two great-fitting pairs of inky-black jeans. I bought the first bottle after I found a pair of Madewell jeans in a black so black that they made my legs look almost 2-D, like they were stamped into space. The second bottle came about because I forgot I already owned the first, after I came across a pair of cropped Cheap Mondays that came in a black so black that they made anything around them super-colorful in comparison.

I'm telling you this story, because, obviously, I never used either of those Woolite Blacks and both pairs of jeans are now more heather-gray than black. They're more George Clooney than Dita Von Teese — and, it turns out, I'm sort of digging them this way. Black jeans that aren't so black means you've had to launder them a dozen times or more, which means a dozen cycles' worth of escapades and romps. My black jeans are no longer new nor black and I'm much less precious about them, too (in the graph of blackness of jean and amount of adventure-having, there's a positive exponential association).

I'm sure you can buy off-the-rack "black" jeans with this sort of patina, but I'm willing to bet that most of the jeans ahead are the product of some good wear and tear. Take a look at how other women have embraced their not-so-black blacks and what they wore them with.

These are just beginning to show signs of wear and tear.

Anna Kendrick Makes A Striking Point While Discussing Last Tango Rape Scene

$

Over the weekend, an old video surfaced of Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci admitting that the infamous rape scene in Last Tango In Paris was planned without the consent of actress Maria Schneider. It's left celebrities, like many other people, appalled and enraged — with several taking to Twitter to voice their disgust.

Chris Evans tweeted, "Wow. I will never look at this film, Bertolucci or Brando the same way again. This is beyond disgusting. I feel rage."

Anna Kendrick responded to Evans, pointing out that actress Maria Schneider had said the scene was done without her consent, but her allegations were largely ignored.

Kendrick said in a tweet, "Ms Schneider stated this several years ago. I used to get eye-rolls when I brought it up to people (aka dudes)."

Evans replied that he "had no idea. Woulda felt rage then too." He added that Bertolucci and Brando, "should be in jail."

Kendrick responded again, saying that she was not surprised that most people didn't know about Bertolucci and Brando's behavior, since "it wasn't treated like a big story then (shocker)." She added, "Glad at least it will be taken seriously now."

Kendrick is right: This wasn't the first time these allegations against Bertolucci and Brando have come to light. It's awful that she had to point it out, since Schneider herself had previously — and repeatedly — said it wasn't consensual.

In a 2006 interview, Schneider said she "cried real tears" during the rape scene in Last Tango In Paris. She also claimed that it was not in the script, but rather the idea of Marlon Brando. Schneider said,"When they told me, I had a burst of anger. Woo! I threw everything. And nobody can force someone to do something not in the script. But I didn't know that. I was too young."

She added in that interview that "[Bertolucci] was manipulating everyone on set." Schneider passed away in 2011. Brando died in 2004, but Bertolucci is still alive and made a movie as recently as 2012.

Sadly, it's unsurprising that any allegations made by Schneider were ignored, given the fact that perpetrators of sexual assault or violence are rarely punished for their crimes. In the U.S. alone, an estimated 994 out of every 1,000 rapes results in perpetrators walking free — without any punishment — according to statistics by RAINN, based on data from the Department of Justice.

And despite the fact that Schneider tried to come forward about what happened to her years later, the truth is that people largely ignored her claims. It wasn't until Bertolucci admitted it — on camera — that people started paying attention.

"To all the people that love this film — you're watching a 19yr old get raped by a 48yr old man," tweeted Jessica Chastain. "The director planned her attack. I feel sick."

She was retweeted by actress Evan Rachel Wood, who recently revealed that she is a sexual assault survivor. Wood added, "I second that. This is heartbreaking and outrageous. The 2 of them are very sick individuals to think that was ok."

Director Ava Duvernay called Bertolucci and Brando's behavior "inexcusable." She added, "As a director, I can barely fathom this. As a woman, I am horrified, disgusted and enraged by it."

Tarte's New Mascara Lasted Me Through 5 Workout Classes

I usually go to the gym in the morning, which means that I roll out of bed, toss on some leggings and a sports bra, throw my hair into a ponytail, and drag myself out the door without a drop of makeup on my face. I feel fine about it — until I catch a glimpse of my red, sweaty face in the mirror, or, fine, of that David Beckham look-alike lifting in the corner. Then, I wish I had a little mascara on.

So when I found out that Tarte was launching a line of "athleisure makeup," I was all about it. The line, which includes products like lightweight foundations with SPF and a blotting paper-powder combo, is meant to take you from barre to the bar. But the item that tickled my fancy the most was its new Lifted mascara. The formula is completely sweat-proof — in fact, the team over at Tarte tested it in actual sweat chambers to make sure it lives up to its name.

But I don't throw my weight behind a product until I've tested that sucker myself. So I put this mascara through the paces with a series of workouts: boxing, Zumba, Kangoo cardio, yoga, and good ol'-fashioned weight-lifting.

Before the first class, I went through my regular skin-care routine and then put on just the mascara. I was pleasantly surprised by the way this stuff applied. It isn't pure black, but more of a black-brown shade to look more natural, less Workout Barbie, and it really defines and separates each lash while leaving them flexible. It's kind of everything I've ever wanted in an everyday mascara. I was won over before the sweat session had even begun.

Boxing

The first class was one I had never tried, but always wanted to: boxing. After a quick warm-up, I strapped on my gloves and started beating on some punching bags. Aside from getting out some major aggression, I sweat my ass off. By the end of the class, I was pink in the face, but my mascara had stayed put. And when I washed my face at night, the mascara came off seamlessly — which is rare when it comes to budge-proof formulations.

Kangoo Cardio

What is this, you ask? Oh, just a class that involves going for a jog with some trampolines strapped to your feet. I'm not kidding — the instructor hands out specialty boots with springs so your jog works out your butt. It was actually the only time I've ever enjoyed a run. But just because I felt like a kid again doesn't mean I didn't sweat — it's still cardio. Still, even with all the jumping, the mascara didn't budge.

Yoga

After beating the hell out of my punching bag and hopping through a jog, I figured it was time to get in touch with my center. So I took a vinyasa yoga class, which is my favorite type of yoga. But I have this one issue with my flow: Once I start to get my heart rate up, tiny beads of sweat roll into my eyes during upright poses, causing my mascara to run, Lauren Conrad-style. But that didn't happen with the Lifted mascara. It stayed put — even when I accidentally rubbed my eye in downward-facing dog.

Zumba

Let me be frank: I hate Zumba. Nothing makes me sweat like a beast while feeling like a suburban mom more than shaking my ass to some souped-up reggaeton music. I have no rhythm. I'm all elbows. So while I felt like a total idiot by the end of this class, I looked fabulous. I noticed for the first time that not only did the mascara stay put pigment-wise, but it also helped my lashes maintain their curl. This was bonkers to me, because the formula is so lightweight.

Weight-Lifting

I finished the week with my usual workout: 30 minutes on the stationary bike followed by 40 minutes of weights and 10 minutes of stretching. I have to say — I felt a little better about myself looking in the mirror during my weight reps. The mascara helped me look less tired at 6:30 a.m., and it stayed put throughout my entire workout. When I go to the gym after work and am still wearing my makeup from the day, I usually wind up with raccoon eyes by the end of my workout. I saw none of that this time.

Does anyone need makeup at the gym? Absolutely not — this is all about personal preference. But here's how I look at it: I'm already in an environment that sometimes makes me feel not-so-great about myself. So if popping on a mascara that I know will stay put helps me feel a little more confident while I'm lifting heavy objects over my head, then I'm all for it.
